On Saturday, Troxel guided her In-N-Out Burger Dodge Charger Funny Car into the 13th spot on the ladder for Sunday’s eliminations at the 50th annual Kragen O’Reilly NHRA Winternationals at Auto Club Speedway. It was a great welcome back for Troxel, as well as In-N-Out Burger, which sponsored her in the late 1990s.


Three-time Winternationals champ Larry Dixon grabbed the reins in Top Fuel at the 50th annual Kragen O’Reilly NHRA Winternationals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona while reigning season champs Robert Hight and Mike Edwards held onto their Thursday leads in Funny Car and Pro Stock, respectively.


While attending a private test session at Bradenton Motorsports Park, we ran across none other than 2009 NMRA Hot Street champion Don Bowles also on hand for some track time. Some rule changes for the 2010 season have him testing out some newly allowed parts. Some of these parts include new carburetor and tire rules. Reigning season champs Robert Hight in Funny Car and Mike Edwards in Pro Stock lead their fields after the first day of qualifying at the 50th annual Kragen O’Reilly NHRA Winternationals presented by Valvoline at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.


Alan Stevens and Jake Brantner are teaming up this year for the Valley Automotive Machine Performance series 275 Drag Radial class in Kansas City held at KCIR. Steve Morris of New Era Racecraft got the call for the engine, which will be a 509 ci big block Chevy with an F3R Procharger. Morris is well known for blow through set ups and C&S Specialties was given the nod to spec out a Dominator for them. Check out the story on more about the new car.


Ford Racing opened up the 2010 Mustang Cobra Jet build facility to customers, vendors, partners and employees to celebrate the “Job Done”, the completion of 50 new Cobra Jets. Seventeen Cobra Jet customers made the trek to snowy Flat Rock, Michigan to pick up their factory built race cars. Check out and see who some of the people were that picked up the keys to their Cobra Jet first hand.


Chris Crawford purchased this Firebird about ten years ago, the car was born a plane jane 1994 refrigerator white Formula. Chris then rebodied it as a ‘02 WS6 with custom House Of Colors paint. What started off as an eleven second driver, eventually ran into the ten second zone on a small shot of nitrous. Last year he made a switch to a 88mm turbo set up on E85, earning a new best in the 8.80’s with the 370 ci. engine in street trim. Come inside and see what Chris now has in store for his Firebird as it becomes a threat to the LSx community.


Scott Husted “The Former” Outlaw 10.5 and Heavy Street racer with his ’69 Camaro. He now has a ’93 Ford coupe that was built by Robert Coady at Category 5 Race Cars in Zephyrhills, Florida. This car will feature the big block Chevy from his Camaro, assisted by twin 88mm turbos. Check out the additional build pictures on this sweet 10.5 build.


The Pirez family has been synonymous with Drag Radial racing since the beginning, driving and winning with Chevy powered cars, so the switch to a 2000 Mustang is new for Troy Jr. The 427 ci mill features Edelbrock Victor/Glidden 2 cylinder heads and a Super Victor/Glidden intake to match. Simpson Performance Products and John Force Racing have reached an agreement naming Simpson as the official safety gear for John Force Racing, beginning with the 2010 NHRA Full Throttle season. The partnership between the two companies will further the safety initiatives undertaken by The Eric Medlen Project, a safety initiative that grew out of the tragedy that claimed the life of promising young driver, Eric Medlen.


On a day when cold and overcast conditions made full runs a rarity, Justin Humphreys was crowned the winner of the annual Pro Stock Showdown at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. After making just one qualifying attempt, Humphreys was the star of Sunday’s event, making three runs in the 6.7-second zone in his Pontiac GXP, including a 6.74, the quickest pass of the day. In the final round, Humphreys posted a 6.79 while Johnny Gray, like many other drivers before him, shook the tires as soon as he dumped the clutch.


Mose Nowland, Ford Racing engine engineer, and Larry Morgan, owner/driver of the Lucas Oil Pro Stock Ford Mustang, talk about the new Pro Stock Ford engine. It debuted in development form in Pomona last fall, and will be making its “official” debut this weekend in the two Larry Morgan Pro Stock Mustangs at the 50th Annual NHRA Winternationals in Pomona. “This just did not just happen. No way.” It wasn’t a reaction to running the first pass in the sixes. Instead, that was David Hance’s first reaction after spinning out and hitting the wall at the Shakedown at E-Town late last year. A great racer is not someone who can go out there a few times and run some good runs. It’s a racer who can make a few runs then fall really hard, get back up and make a record pass. That is what David Hance did and we spoke with him about the road to the six second barrier.


Paul Major started out like any other high school kid with a love for cars and street racing. His first car was a ’72 Monte Carlo that was packed with nitrous, running in the high 12’s with a small block nitrous combination, it fed his fever early. Eventually, Major found his way to the drag strip for some legal racing, and his obsession just went from there. He’s not just a racer, but a Corvette guy through and through. We got to talk to Major and get the background on his past and what he is doing today.


Picking up where he left off last year, NHRA Full Throttle champ Mike Edwards drove to the top spot during qualifying for the annual Pro Stock Showdown at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Through four rounds of qualifying, Edwards was the quickest with a 6.681 to pace the 13-car field. Saturday’s final eliminations for the Pro Stock Showdown have been rained out; the track will attempt to run the event Sunday, but weather forecasts are gloomy.


To keep the tradition alive of Ford factory built Mustang race cars, like the 1968 Cobra Jet, the Boss 429 and the FR500S Mustang Challenge car, Ford Racing started working on a production of 50 2010 Cobra Jet Mustangs.
