The King of the Coast Bracket Series has been a big success over many seasons and will continue in 2012 with six scheduled events. The series includes a number of unique features, including door cars-only and dragsters-only bouts in the first four rounds.
Many know this as being one of the nicest Chevy Malibu race cars around, and the owner and driver, Todd Geisler, has made some huge changes to his ride over the past year.
After a few attempts and many years of running Competition Eliminator, this grass roots racer brings out a competitive piece and qualifies with the big dogs in Pro Stock, thanks to hard work and help from friends.
Maryland International Raceway in Budds Creek Maryland holds their World Cup Finals Imports vs. Domestics event during the late fall each year, where the cool, fall air makes for record shattering performance on the track, and this year was no exception. But ample horsepower on a cold track can spell disaster.

It was a beautiful day in the Northeast corner of Maryland for the NA Shootout’s season opening event at Cecil County Dragway. The original season opener, scheduled at Maple Grove Raceway in Pennsylvania, was cancelled due to inclement weather, but a great bunch of racers brought out their best for this clash.
This trick AMC AMX is definitely something you don’t see too often. It’s a lightweight, alky guzzling bracket machine that deserves a closer look. And for those so inclined, it’s also for sale.
While breezing through the cars and parts listed on Racing Junk, we stumbled upon the former Hurley Blakeney-owned “Silent Thunder” Thunderbird for sale. This is a six-second turbocharged machine that’s been campaigned for many years in the Competition Eliminator division.
John Gaydosh was back racing his NHRA Pro Stock Pontiac GXP this past weekend at Englishtown after a major set back. While testing at Bradenton Motorsports Park earlier this year, the car crashed hard when it hit the wall at over 200 mph.

Larry Larson’s Six-Second Street Car Driving to, Competing In NHRA
Larry Larson plans on driving his amazing 1966 Chevy II – dubbed the fastest street car in America – to the NHRA Summer Nationals in Topeka, Kansas this weekend, where he’ll compete in the Competition Eliminator AA/AT category.
The fabricators over at Gilsbach Racecraft are working on another masterpiece. This time they’re turning an ordinary 2010 Camaro into a state-of-the-art Outlaw 10.5 race car for Joe Copson.

The title of worlds quickest motorcycle is currently held by Larry “Spiderman” Mcbride with a supercharged nitro burning Top Fuel Dragbike. The team set the record with a 5.79 ET @ 245.36 mph. McBride has been 5.74 unofficially and is shooting for the 5.60′s at over 250 mph in the quarter mile.
Back in December we ran an article here at Dragzine called Possible changes to NHRA Super Street rules. The results are in from the voting and here they are – only one change has been made.
You may have seen some V8 motorcycles before but this is way over the top. The engine is a 1971 Can-Am ZL-1 427-inch aluminum block big block Chevy with a 10-71 blower that force feeds this beast. All this power is put down to the pavement on a 16.5×32 drag slick.
Northeast Rod & Custom Car Show Coming to the Philadelphia Area
For many years the custom car enthusiast had one weekend where they could get excited about cars again. That was the Philadelphia Custom Car Show, though it has been gone for many years. Full House Motorsports has put together the Northeast Rod & Custom Car Show at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA.
NHRA Pro Stock racer John Gaydosh has a familiar new ride for the 2011 racing season. Gaydosh had been talking with Justin Humphreys about possibly buying his Pontiac GXP since Humphreys will be switching to a Ford. Gaydosh found a buyer for his Ex-Jim Yates Pontiac GTO and immediately purchased the GXP.
New Jersey’s Atco Raceway has put together a small program for Top Sportsman and Top Dragster that was a hit last season and will continue in 2011. There are four events again this year that racers can earn points towards the championship.
In an effort to enhance NHRA Stock and Super Stock Class Racing, a new program will go into effect for the 2011 NHRA Lucas Oil Series season. The normal race eliminations will be the same, just the class eliminations (class run-offs) will change.
The Northeast Outlaw Pro Mod Association has released is preparing for another exciting season of wild doorslammer action. These monsters of the quarter mile run in the low 6 to high 5 second range and reach speeds in excess of 240 mph.
NASCAR ‘s 2004 Champion Kurt Busch has been getting more serious with his drag racing exploits. He was driving Vinnie DeCeglie’s Mopar Pro Stock machine and laid down an amazing 6.62 second blast at 210 mph on his first full pass.
A group called the Holeshot Drag Racing Association (HDRA) has organized 100 foot drag races held on existing paved circle and oval tracks utilizing one of the straight-a-ways. They set up there christmas tree and timing equipment and run side by side races to the 100′ mark.
Richard Bauman, a long time competitor in the NMCA’s Pro Stock class, will be back in 2011 with his completely updated 1969 Chevy Nova. A new 408ci TyTech Performance Small Block Chevy will provide the get-up and go.
There is a pondering question “Is NA Heads-Up Racing Going Extinct?” This means all motor, heads-up, small tire, street car racing. There are 5 or 6 classes for these cars to compete but they all have different rules. I go over some of the rules and formulate a unified set to hopefully revive this class.
What do drag racers do to get there fix in the middle of the winter when the tracks are closed? Get together and have a Practice Tree Event. Racers go head to head with each other to see who has the better reaction time on the practice tree. Best of all, you can win money here!
Many NHRA Super Street racers have received an email concerning changes that are being considered to the NHRA Super categories, Super Comp 8.90, Super Gas 9.90 and Super Street 10.90. There have been discussions between NHRA and the Sportsman Racers Advisory Council (SRAC) about these classes.
The season is over for the North East Racing series known as the NA Shootout. We recap all the races through out the season and highlight some of the key moves made by the season’s champions.
After some upgrades, Ray Zieger’s New Jersey based Blue Thunder Camaro was out testing his new combination when he went for one wild ride. As soon as the car launched it made a hard right turn towards the wall. Ray was able to immediately lift off the throttle and crank the steering wheel.
Brian Mitchell’s NMRA EFI Renegade 91 Mustang, driven by Dan Rawls, was just sold to Paul Johnson of Richmond Virginia for the east coast X275 wars. The three time championship winning ride features a 25.5 chassis and will be sporting a brand new 380″ small block Chevy engine built by CDR Performance LLC.
