Six New and Improved Carburetors from Demon

Dahlonega, GA: Demon Carburetion has introduced 6 new and improved four-barrel carburetors in the following sizes: 650, 750, and 850. Known as Speed Demons, each size is available in two forms: three are equipped with mechanically operated secondary throttle plates; the remaining three with vacuum-operated secondaries.

Vacuum-operated secondary throttle plates are ideally suited to engines with automatic transmissions lacking high-speed stall converters. Alternatively, carburetors with mechanical secondaries are preferable for vehicles with manual transmissions or automatics with higher stall-speed converters, operating at 2,500 to 2,800rpm. Vacuum-secondary Speed Demons are instantly recognizable by the red billet aluminum cap on the vacuum pod.

Speed Demons are classified as general performance entry-level downdraft carburetors. Featuring down-leg boost venturii, they replace most standard square-flange carburetors on engines with camshaft durations of up to 240 degrees @ .050in of valve opening. The 650 model performs at its best on mildly tuned engines with displacements of 302 to 427cu in. The larger 750 Speed Demon works exceptionally well on 393 to 477cid engines and excels on mildly tuned engines from 427 to 455cu in. The largest carburetor of this new Speed Demon range, the 850, is particularly well-suited for operation on big-block crate motors, ranging in displacements from 488 to 540cu in.

All vacuum-secondary Speed Demons are supplied with electric chokes. However, mechanical-secondary units have provision for optional choke mechanisms. If desirable, these can be purchased in either manual or electric styles. Both vacuum and mechanical Speed Demons are supplied with an integral kick-down mechanism that accepts Ford’s transmission linkage.

Other key upgrades include Demon’s billet metering blocks and base plates complete with Idle-EzeTM, a useful air valve that allows you to set the idle speed without disturbing the throttle plates from their correct location. Throttle plates are mounted on Teflon®-coated throttle shafts. Crucially, four-corner idle circuitry, high-flow choke tower, and power valve backfire protection are provided to complete the package. Finished in silver die chromate, Speed Demon tuning parts are interchangeable with similar carburetors of other manufacture.

Intercomp’s Next Generation Coil-Over Spring Tester

Minneapolis, MN – Intercomp has introduced the next generation of Coil-Over Spring Tester and Compressor. With a digitally measured travel of over 10.5 inches and the ability to compress coil-over assemblies for service, the new design allows users to obtain test data over a greater travel range, while saving valuable time.

Intercomp’s Coil-Over Spring Tester and Compressor tests coil springs, coil-over assemblies (including 5th coils), rod pressure, bump stops and coil bind to a load capacity of 5,000 lbs; truly a multi-purpose tool. The new Spring Compressor feature, combined with additional hydraulic travel, allows users to disassemble coil-over assemblies using a variety of spring diameters as well as stacked and extra long travel springs with proper adapters. The ability to compress springs allows users to service shocks and bump stops without adjusting the spring preload; Getting them back on track faster.

Other new features include removable shock mount pins with integrated center reference marks. These new pins are designed to double as rotational stops allowing spring preload adjustments with spanner wrenches. Preload may also be adjusted by compressing the coil over assembly and spinning the ride height adjustment nut freely with the correct adapters. Also new for 2012 is the use of adjustable handles, allowing for quick adjustment of the increased 31” center to center length of the Coil-Over Spring Tester, while keeping the height of the device to a minimum. This spring rater is perfect for applications found in most forms of motorsports especially off-road and similar long travel applications.

KING INTRODUCES HP ENGINE BEARINGS FOR CHEVY APPLICATIONS

King Engine Bearings, a leader in high performance engine bearings, has introduced new rod and main bearings for Chevy engines in its popular HP Engine Bearings line.

Made of bi-metal, aluminum silicon alloy, King’s HP bearings feature a 40 Vickers hardness that resists traditional overlay migration and extrusion. HP bearings have a 450 degrees Fahrenheit heat threshold that affords greater protection against friction and overheating.

King HP bearings are available for Chevy engine applications, including rod bearings for 327 (CR 803HPN), small block (CR 807HPN, CR 807HPND) LS (CR 807HPN, CR 807HPND), 400 (CR 807HPN, CR 807HPND) and big block (CR 808HPN, CR 808HPND). A total of 30 new features and upgrades have been engineered into the new Aluminum Ultra HP. Most notable are the all aluminum construction which makes them 38% lighter and totally redesigned fuel bowls that increase fuel capacity by 20%. The fuel bowls incorporate ten new features including internal baffling to help control fuel slosh; a fuel trough to direct fuel to the jets; and a fuel shelf which minimizes aeration and promotes more consistent metering.

The metering blocks and base plates are made from 6061T6 Billet Aluminum for improved durability and true gasket sealing. The metering blocks are fully adjustable and boast a total of six upgrades. Any enthusiast running boost, nitrous or high RPMs is aware of the trade-offs associated with inductive coils versus converting to a capacitive-type discharge ignition system (CDI). The typical argument is that inductive coils deliver a long spark duration with simplicity, but not enough energy to light off the combustion chamber of a modified high-performance vehicle. In contrast, CDIs deliver intense energy but with practically no spark duration, making the proper mixture in the combustion chamber critical for best performance. This tradeoff ends with AEM’s High-Output Inductive Coils, the first inductive coils that deliver CDI-like spark energy and voltage, and the long spark duration necessary for vehicles running forced induction and nitrous.

“SMART” AND “DUMB” COILS COME WITHOUT OR WITH AN IGNITER

AFR’s SBC 245NPP Heads Available for Order Now!

AFR is proud to announce the release of a new cylinder head, the SBC 245NPP (no pushrod pinch).

The 245’s are available with two chamber sizes out of the box (70 and 80 cc’s) and can be milled anywhere from 60 to 80cc’s, if necessary. The new 245s feature 2.125” intake valves and 1.600” exhaust valves, with 60/40 valve spacing, and come equipped with PAC (#1225) roller dual valve springs.

Like all AFR heads and intake manifolds, the new 245s are covered by the AFR Lifetime Warranty.

“This is the highest flowing 23* cylinder head we have ever produced and we invested a lot of time optimizing this product. Achieving 350 CFM’s in a non raised runner bolt on configuration is a milestone, especially in a mass produced affordable cylinder head. The neat thing about this product is it accepts commonly available headers and intake manifolds. With the flow curve this head features, 700+ plus horsepower on pump gas will be a cinch and in drag race configuration this head could flirt with 800 HP in an optimized package,” said Tony Mamo, AFR Product Development Manager.

Raise or lower your control arms to increase hit or create squat just like a real 4-link car can. When designing this kit we improved on the factory geometry by moving the chassis mounting holes further forward. This reduces pinion angle change during rear end travel. Ford’s 2009 and 2010 4.6L V8 model is no exception to its long line of F150 trucks built to outlast and outperform other rivals like Chevy and Dodge. Lunati has taken the wraps off its all-new 4340 alloy steel Signature series connecting rods.

As direct replacements for their successful FM (fully machined) series, these new race-ready I-beam forgings are 100 percent sonic tested and Magnaflux inspected. In addition, they are manufactured to extremely close tolerances (.0005in between centers), weight-matched to plus-or-minus 1 gram, and heat treated to 28-30 on the Rockwell C scale. They are made to the most precise standards Lunati knows and are available in sizes from 5.4in to 6.4in.

Precision-machined and with close attention to detail these aircraft-quality mill-certified connecting rods are ideal for use in circle track, drag race, off road or marine applications. Indeed, they suit all naturally aspirated and forced-induction engines that are subjected to high engine speeds and stresses.

Lunati, a specialist in competition connecting rods for over 20 years and a supplier to the NASCAR scene for the past five, has successfully tested the new Signature series in NASCAR competition during the course of the past year.

Derek Scott, head of the Mississippi-based camshaft and components firm, said the success of their existing FM series over the past decade meant “we have hardly changed the rod’s material properties, but full sonic testing has been hugely significant, guaranteeing increased strength and eliminating risks of internal impurities—plus the rod’s precise tolerances are exceptional.”

Tall Block Chevy D.U.I. Distributor

Performance Distributors new Chevy Tall Block D.U.I. Distributor features a slip collar with 7/8” of adjustability.  This is great if you have decked your heads or milled your block, which changes the distance between where your distributor rests on the intake and where it meshes with your cam gear.  This will insure a precise installation, while preventing engine damage from the distributor being out of alignment.  The Chevy Tall Block D.U.I. is an excellent choice for the original 348-409-427-454 Tall Block engines produced from 1958-’65.

It is also a great bolt-on for both the ZZ-572 620 HP & ZZ-572 720 HP Crate Engines, both which have Tall Deck Big Blocks.

Performance Distributors calibrates the advance curve on a distributor machine which optimizes the advance curve providing  instant throttle response and maximum performance throughout your rpm range.  Pinpoint accuracy will be achieved by coordinating your mechanical advance with the proper vacuum advance.

The distributor comes complete, including the dependable  Street/Strip  D.U.I. Coil (or Racing Coil) and Dyna-Module which allow you to open up your plug gaps to .050”-.055”, burning your fuel more completely.  Magnetic pick-up coil power is insured by aligning the teeth on the pick-up to the teeth on the shaft reluctor to very exact tolerances.  An additional step that also insures maximum magnetic pick-up coil power is the hand setting of the end-play between the distributor gear and the distributor housing.  Proper lubrication of the D.U.I. distributor, along with test firing of the electronic components, provide you with not only an excellent performing ignition system, but also with a very reliable one. Of course, this unit also incorporates our brass terminal cap and rotor, available in red, blue, black, yellow, or clear.

Weld Racing, the racing wheel company with the most racing wins on its product every season, released the 20” S71 RT-S wheel for sale in March. The S71, a traditional “Weld-Star” design makes up the initial 20” RT-S style offering. The wheel sizes range from 20”x5” to 20”x17.5”. The forged billet centers have three choices of brake caliper clearance so you can use anything from drum brakes to billet 6 piston calipers.  Vehicle applications cover classic 1930’s Hot Rods to 2010 Muscle. Forged from primary aluminum alloys in the U.S.A., as are all Weld Racing wheels, they are lighter, stronger, and truer than other brands. The quality alloys in the wheels polish to a brilliant shine and resist oxidation better than other alloys. The option of eye catching black anodized centers with milled highlights adds to the choices and appeal.

Forged wheels have numerous advantages over cast wheels and non-forged billet wheels. A cast wheel is made from A-356 Aluminum that is melted and poured into a mold. This material is at best 60% as strong as 5000 or 6000 series aluminum alloys that are forged into shape. In addition the cast A-356 is brittle and porous. Not exactly properties you want in a wheel, especially in a high performance application! A billet of aluminum alloy that is not forged to approximate shape before machining does not have grain running from center to rim like spokes on a wheel. A forged billet, done correctly, does. With a stronger material you can use less of it to build the wheel reducing its weight as much as 40% and still have a more durable wheel.

The RT-S wheels are three-piece forgings, for application flexibility, that are assembled by welding. Columbia, SC: It’s easy to underestimate the potential of a 6.25in racing clutch disc. After all it is tiny yet it transmits the power of 500cu in NHRA Pro Stock race cars, 400cu in Australian Pro Stockers, as well as 900 to 1,200hp Competition Eliminator cars.

In fact this clutch is suitable for any powerful naturally aspirated small-block with a manual transmission and where some clutch slippage is desirable on initial take-off. Usually, the clutch assemblies for the 500 and 400cu in engines contain three discs while the Comp Eliminator contains two.

This new clutch disc comprises a core plate with friction material at its perimeter and a splined hub at its center. Ram provides the specifications of their 5191 friction material to Raybestos who sinters it on the 1/16in thick core plate at 1,700 to 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit for over two hours. The core plate has four slots to prevent its distortion during the bonding process and also during operation. When trued the new friction surface is approximately .320in thick and 1in wide.

From heat treated 4140 high tensile alloy steel, Ram constructs the splined hub and fastens it to the core plate with eight 1/4in stainless steel rivets. The hub usually features 10 splines to accommodate Liberty or G-Force transmissions.

The friction material 5191 is renowned for its excellent wear characteristics—it is gentle on the mating surfaces. After each race pass a diamond-tipped dressing tool is used to de-glaze the surface of the disc and to true it, resulting in a very efficient friction surface. With careful re-surfacing a disc can complete 10 to 12 race passes.

Ram recommends running the discs in varying stages of wear: one new, one with some wear, and one with substantial wear, replacing them one at a time. By rotating them in this fashion the assembled height of the clutch pack doesn’t vary too much, and the setup remains close to optimum. Typically these sintered discs are replaced when their thickness diminishes to around .250in.

Five new 1-inch crank mandrels for Chevrolet, Ford, Mopar from GZ Motorsports have 1/8-inch key ways in order to be compatible with other manufacturers. All five new mandrels are designed to be attached to the balancer using the pulley mounting holes located on the balancer.

GZ Motorsports has designed a new mandrel for SBC (small-block Chev), BBC (big-block Chev), SBF (small-block Ford), BBF (big block Ford) and SBM&BBM (Mopar) engines. The new mandrel has a 1-inch shaft with a 1/8-inch key way in order to be compatible with other manufacturers. All five new mandrels are designed to be attached to the balancer using the pulley mounting holes located on the balancer.  This allows the crank bolt and washer to remain in place as required by several after market balancer manufactures. All mandrels come with a 4” long spacer so that each mandrel pulley can be accurately located on the mandrel by cutting each to length and an end-cap and bolt. The mandrels can be shortened as desired as the threaded 7/16 center hole is 2” deep. Each mandrel is of length to allow a mandrel pulley to be at a maximum distance of 4.5” from the back side mounting face, or face of balancer.

GZ Motorsports offers several 1” mandrel pulleys: 3”, 3.5” and 4.5” V belt and a 36 tooth Gilmer belt.

COMP Cams brought out their new Elite Lifters that are an all-new design and intended for high end racing applications. These new lifters feature the largest axle of any lifter on the market, and have a pressurized oil feed to the wheel in which the oil is metered through the pushrod seats to the top end. Sporting a large bearing, they have interchangeable pushrod seats, a lightweight body with a wheel made of 9310 material.

Meanwhile, TCI is showcasing their new Power Drive Pan, made of a diecast aluminum that’s two pounds lighter than sand cast pans on the markets. This sharp-looking pan utilizes an o-ring seal rather than a gasket, holds two extra quarts of oil, contains an o-ring drain plug, and has a design that incorporates raise dimples into the bottom of the pan that increased surface area, thus improving heat dissipation. According to TCI’s Scott Miller, they are one the first to diecast an aluminum oil pan.

Quarter Master brought out several of their popular products for the show, headed up by the unveiling of their carbon fiber driveshaft intended for use in dirt Late Models. These driveshafts offer exceptional weight reduction that vastly improves acceleration and deceleration in and out of the corners where a race is often make or break. the directionally-oriented carbon fiber maximizes torsional strength radially and laterally to improve performance in racing environs. These are finished with a non-load bearing composite outer layer and lightweight black, anodized billet aluminum ends that use standard 1310 u-joints. In addition to the black finish pictured, a white version is available for series that require a white driveshaft.

Lastly, Racing Head Service has pulled the wraps off their new Pro Elite Aluminum cylinder heads for LS7 applications. This new head is the only high performance LS7 head with a raised intake port runner designed to accommodate production and aftermarket intake manifolds and valve train setups. These 355T6 aerospace grade alloy heads feature rectangular ports with a 12-degree rolled valve angle, full CNC porting, and raised valve cover rails to accommodate aftermarket rockers. Available in three different configurations, they sport a 291cc runner, 69cc chamber, 2.200″ intake valves and 1.615″ exhaust valves, with a six-angle valve job and radius exhaust valve job. These are compatible with RHS LS and GM LSX blocks.

Weighing in at 124 pounds, this new block features a larger bore spacing and a modified cam tunnel, with more overall room for components without excessive machining. The maximum bore size is 4.550″, with a 350 or 400 main journal size, and clears up to a 4.250″ stroke. Made of proprietary 356 T-7 aluminum, it also features a raised camshaft location, 9.000 to 9.600 deck heights, dedicated main oil system, ARP hardware, splayed center main caps, and a 6-bolt rear main cap. The standard SBC water pump, fuel pump, and distributor will bolt right up to this block, making it easy to work with, and it will also accept any Big Block Chevy cylinder head. New cylinder head designs specifically for this block are in the works, as well.

While these tires are given the DOT designation and are DOT-approved, they are designed for racing use only, and measure 28″ in diameter, with a 10″ tread width with an 11.5″ overall width. These are recommended for use on 15″ wheels ranging from 8-10″. With stock suspension cars already running in the 4.70′s to the eighth mile and the mid 7′s in the quarter on these tires, it certainly speaks volumes to their abilities.

Throwing its hat in the ring of these specialized monster engines, Ross Pistons has pulled the wraps off its brand new forged piston intended for the 5.3 bore space block. While many such pistons on the market are made of billet, the forged construction gives this piston added durability, as does the 3D milling process that makes it lighter and strong than conventional pistons. These strut-style pistons feature extended pin bosses to make way for the use of pin buttons, and are available in sizes ranging from 4.800″ to 5.125″.

Among the fresh new look to all of the classic Crane Cams products are more than 350 new cam grinds for all of the GM, Ford, and Chrysler applications – including new roller camshafts for the popular LS-series of engines. As well, their line of rockers have been redesigned, along with valve springs, retainers, valve locks, pushrods, and their hydraulic roller lifters with upgraded roller axle assemblies and a new pin and flange assembly. The product line has also been expanded to cover several new engines in the marketplace.

These 24-degree, A-356 Aluminum heads are 100% CNC ported and utilize several features, including oval-shaped intake ports that flow a stellar 465 cfm and a new exhaust port design that flows 308 cfm with a small 1.850″ exhaust valve. They also sport an extra thick deck, a high valve cover rail, all-copper seats, and a casting that Brodix calls the best in the business. When checking tire pressures at differing temperatures, this gauge will compensate or correct the tire pressures back to a standard temperature. You simply take the temperature of each tire using the attached probe and the gauge will instantly show the corrected pressure for each temperature. If one tire were at 80 degrees and the other at 95 and both are set at 32.3 psi, when the second tire cools to 80 degrees the actual pressure would be 31.0 psi. This is where Longacres’ gauge comes in to play for serious racers that want complete control and accuracy of their tire temperatures.

The gauge can be used as a traditional tire pressure gauge that will display all four tire pressures by pressing the Store Memory button. The gauge will read pressures up to 100 psi, and is accurate throughout the range to 1/10 of a pound. It can also serve as pyrometer by inserting the probe into the tire. Once the temperature stabilizes, pressing the Store Memory button will display all 12 temperatures on the screen at once.

Proving greater compatibility with the HANS, the folks at Crow Enterprizes have designed a new set of “Dog Bone” harnesses for use with the device and available on most of their varying harness applications that taper from the standard 3-inch wide belt down to 2-inches at the shoulder and the back to 3-inches for a better and safer fit over the HANS. This dyno tested and tuned monster Mopar is based upon a fully prepared Mopar block, with a rotating assembly that consists of an Eagle 4340 4.500″ bore crankshaft, Eagle H-beam rods, and Diamond 10.75:1 pistons. A COMP Cams roller camshaft and a set of Indy’s own 426 HI-PO S/R aluminum cylinder heads comprise the valvetrain. Housed inside of a highly aerodynamic composite construction scoop design is an air filter that is mounted to a base plate attached to the carburetor. The School of Automotive Machinists, SAM, will award $202,000 in scholarships to the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow National Championship at the SEMA Show.

The School of Automotive Machinists will award $202,000 in scholarships to six high school automotive teams competing at the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow National Championship at the SEMA Show.  Team MSD from Eastern Oklahoma Tech Center, Team Auto Meter from Loara High School, Team ARP from East Ridge High School, Team PRW from Fremd High School, Team Edelbrock from North Orange County ROP and Team Painless from Lakeshore High School will all be competing in the National Championship Playoffs November 2 –5, 2010 in Las Vegas.

“SAM is happy to support high school automotive students who are excited about the automotive industry,” said Judson Massingill, Founder and Director of Education at SAM.   “This competition is about engine building and that’s what we teach our students to do – build engines that make a lot of horsepower and stay together to win races.  We hope these students will continue their automotive training and go on to work in the high performance and racing industry,” said Judson.

Students must properly disassemble the engine using only hand tools, utilizing proper detorque and disassembly procedure. The air cleaner, carb, distributor, plug wires, spark plugs, manifold, headers, heads, lifters, rocker arms, push rods, timing chain and cover. Then the oil filter, oil pan, oil pump, plus all eight pistons are then removed. The cam and crank remain in the block. The team then returns behind their bench and wait for the judges to call them back, teams then begin working to reassemble once again with correct assembly procedure and torque specs, all while being viewed by judges and spectators. Time added penalties for dropped components, improper disassembly, assembly, sportsmanship, etc. will be added to ensure correct assembly. All procedure penalties are in the rule book provided to the schools at the start of the school year. The engines when reassembled would fire up and run if gas, water, and oil were added. The team with the fastest time including penalty minutes wins.

The e-Boost Street is an electronic boost controller aimed at the street performance market. It features the same boost control capabilities as the e-Boost2 range continuing the e-Boost tradition of providing class leading boost control, value for money and no nonsense features. For 2010 the e-Boost STREET has received a face lift and can now handle boost pressures up to 40psi and has the added feature of an auxiliary output that can be used to trigger intercooler sprays and methanol or nitrous injection systems etc.

Auxiliary Output triggers water spray, methanol or nitrous injection and shift lights etc and is fully programmable against boost, RPM or both.

Maximum boost level: 40PSI / 2.72BAR.

Boost Settings: There are two boost settings – easily selected via the “turn-and-push” button. An external switch can also be used to change between boost groups if required.

Boost correction factor: Many street cars with standard turbo systems suffer from boost drop off at high RPM. The Boost Correction Factor eliminates this problem and is exclusive to the e-Boost family.

Display: An easy-to-read 3-segment display with adjustable brightness can be configured for PSI, KPa, or BAR and will flash when warning of over boost shutdown or rev limit, allowing the unit to be used as a boost gauge, tachometer, or a shift light.

In ATI’s tradition of staying ahead of rampant increases in HP that is “commonplace” in the performance industry today, ATI has developed the Superplate flexplate. Superplates are manufactured from a super-strong material with a 90,000 lb. tensile strength and 80,000 lb. yield strength to withstand thousands of cycles. Superplates are laser machined to avoid the heat and stress stamping inflicts on them. The crank bolt holes are bored in position to exacting tolerances in both size and location on CNC machines. The Superplate uses the “grip length” of the 6 or 8 crank bolts as dowels to prevent the plate from moving under high torque conditions. Unlike “billet plates” that violate the “flex principle” of a flexplate, the Superplate flexes like OEM plates are designed to do, absorbing the numerous machining tolerances that exist in our “non exact” world.

ATI Superplates are neutral balanced for use in internally balanced engines and exceed SFI 29.1 & 29.2 ratings.

The all-new Quick Fuel Technology (QFT) Super Stock Racing (SSR) carburetor is the best thing to happen to the NHRA Stock and Super Stock Eliminator classes this century!  NHRA officials approved the cast-aluminum SSR carb from QFT for competition in these classes.  The engineers at QFT designed the SSR carbs to the same dimensions and specs of the original counterparts and guidelines in the NHRA rulebook.  These new carbs can be used in place of the hard to find and expensive Holley® 3310 carbs that are competition legal in both classes.

The SSR carb is lightweight, easy to tune and simple to modify for multiple applications.  QFT has been there for the racers since day one and continues to help the racer improve performance while reducing costs.  The first carb available and legal at NHRA events is the 780-cfm model with vacuum secondaries (SSR-780-VS).  QFT is continuing to develop more class specific carbs to add to the SSR line.  Every SSR carb is hand-built and engine tested in-house before it is shipped.

The Nitrous Express SAFE (Stand Alone Fuel Enrichment) system improves the performance of any nitrous system. The SAFE system includes a one gallon, high strength, composite fuel cell that can be mounted in most factory battery trays without modification. This adjustable version comes preassembled with a high output internally mounted fuel pump and an adjustable external regulator making installation quick and simple. Fuel pressure can be adjusted from 3 to 60 psi (no special jetting is required).

The regulator is also boost referencing which makes it compatible with supercharged and turbocharged applications. When used with Gasoline, this system will support up to 800 nitrous horsepower. When used with Methanol, this pump will support will support up to 400 nitrous horsepower. When used with race gas or methanol, the need to retard timing is significantly reduced. Often on V8 engines using nitrous boosts of 150 horsepower and above, zero timing retard is required. The SAFE system reduces the need to upgrade OEM fuel pumps, and will completely eliminate pressure drop at the fuel rail in EFI vehicles. The SAFE System includes an integrated fuel level gauge and all mounting hardware for a no hassle installation! Tank dimensions are 9Lx6Wx8H.

Porter, TX (May 20, 2010) High performance lubricant manufacturer Royal Purple has announced the newest addition to the XPR line of extreme performance and racing oils – XPR 3.1.  Royal Purple’s ultra-light viscosity oil XPR 3.1 is designed exclusively for tight-tolerance, high-RPM, naturally aspirated engines running gapless piston rings. It offers excellent protection while producing maximum horsepower, and is intended for the most competitive classes such as Pro Stock, Pro Stock Motorcycle, Comp Eliminator and NASCAR (qualifying). The ultra low viscosity provides maximum horsepower when it counts, by keeping parasitic losses to an absolute minimum while providing unparalleled protection.

“Extensive dyno and track testing showed significant improvements from Royal Purple’s Racing 2005 and other tested motor oils,” said David Nickens, NHRA Pro Stock engine builder. “It improved horsepower, torque and has resulted in lowered track times.”

AVIAID INTRODUCES BILLET ALUMINUM OIL PAN SERIES

Noted lubrication systems pioneer Aviaid, credited with introducing dry sump technology to the automotive racing world back in the early 1960s, continues its industry leadership with the introduction of billet aluminum dry sump pans.

Entirely CNC machined from solid 6061-T6 aluminum billet, this new generation of oil pans provides important features and benefit over traditional fabricated or cast aluminum pans. According to Aviaid president John Schwarz, “Our billet pans are exceptionally strong, and impervious to cracking. The chance of casting imperfections or material porosity is also eliminated. And the fully fixture-machined mating surface ensures a perfect seal to the block.”

The first pan in Aviaid’s Billet Series is for Chevrolet LS-Series engines and is a perfect compliment to the firm’s highly regarded Z06 retrofit package. It features a built-in screen and five pick-up bungs.

Jesel Valvetrain Innovation has just completed a Sportsman Series rocker kit for the GM LS3/L76/L92 cylinder heads. This kit features a precision machined steel rocker stand that attaches to the head without any type of cylinder head modifications. Rocker geometry has been engineered using the stock length valve and spring package for a simple bolt on and go installation. The solid body 1.465 pivot length rocker bodies are manufactured from a custom blended 2024 aluminum alloy and are treated to a standard shot-peen finish. Rocker tail profiling for added valve cover clearance, cup style tool steel adjuster and a mechanically retained nose roller assembly are also included as standard features.
