Just when you think the drag racing season was over, Bradenton Motorsports gets in the last hurrah with the last major heads up drag race of the year at the Snowbird Nationals. With all the popular heads up racing classes all in one place, plan for a snow-free race weekend in Bradenton, Florida!

With the ORTC race in Georgia last weekend, the racers move further south to the birth place of the ORTC, Bradenton Motorsports Park. This weekend though is Bradenton’s version of the race called the ORDC. Check back to Dragzine all weekend for the latest updates from Bradenton.

This race will not have the Pro Street class in attendance as local noise ordinance laws has forced Fontana to build a sound wall.

The Street Car Super Nationals, now in its sixth year, brings the 2010 drag racing season to a close with the biggest doorslammer event West of the Mississippi. The Strip at Las Vegas Motorsports park is playing host this weekend to teams from across the United States this weekend, and we’ve got all the action.
The biggest door car race of the entire year happens this weekend in Orlando. The World Street Nationals license plates is something you see on cars around the United States as a souvenir that they participated at this huge race. Matusek Completing Pro Mod Mustang with Mod Motor, Installing Roush/Yates Engine Later
Racers are a bunch of impatient people. By trait we want to get from point A to B as fast as possible and have little patience for delay. Steve Matusek, owner of Aeromotive, has this same disease. While he fully intends to put the Roush/Yates Pro Stock-esque mill into his new 2010 Pro Mod Mustang, he wants to go racing…now.

Veteran Musi to contest NHRA Pro Mod at Englishtown after 21 year absence
Famed engine builder and 8-time Pro Street World Champion Pat Musi will return to the big stage of professional NHRA competition for the first time 21 years with the Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge, June 10-13 at his home track, Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey behind the wheel of his Frank Brandao-owned 865-inch 2009 Dodge Stratus.
Mike Maggio’s brand new 70 ½ Camaro ran an outrageous 6.095 @ 238.72 mph off the trailer and he has yet to really get started. News of the Chris Duncan built Pro Street entry first hit the press in March of this year still in conceptual form. Maggio made his opening debut at the Pacific Street Car Associations Racin’ 4 Jason Nationals in early May where he stunned the crowd and PSCA officials with the exceptional run. It was the first time any PSCA racer had broken the 6.0 range.
Clint “The Milkman” Hairston and team drove home a hard hitting win with a 6.084@ 240.85 mph this past weekend at the Pacific Street Car Associations California Nationals May 21st-23rd 2010.
Pro Street Champion Randy Walker stepped up big time with a new 826 cubic inch 5.200 bore space engine. As any racer knows a change in the power plant mid-season is a leap of faith and test of ability. Walker said “We know the changes will present a challenge and it’s a risk. We are confident though that we can get it figured out.”
Ken Cruz’s first race with the new car didn’t go so well after breaking the 3 speed Lenco transmission in his 2002 Camaro Pro Mod. The transmission popped out of gear and knocked the teeth off of the reverser, resulting in the engine free revving to in excess of 11,000 RPM. This in turn damaged some valve springs and a couple of lifters, which was discovered on tear down.
NMCA Pro Street and ADRL Pro Nitrous racer Joe Dunne recently completed a successful test session that included a 6.19 lap at Beech Bend Raceway Park before the rains almost literally consumed the track. Dunne and crew were testing a new prototype Pro Torque converter in their 860 cubic inch Pat Musi-powered Camaro.
Jay Payne has a brand new horse headed to battle in the NHRA Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge; a 2010 Mustang built by Dennis Burnevik at Sinned Customs that will continue to carry the FireIce colors. Testing numbers record at Gateway International Raceway in St. Louis on Monday included a best of 5.86 at 249 mph, nearly a tenth quicker than his ’68 Camaro ran all weekend.
Fredy Scriba Wins in Nitrous Pro Mod and Dina Parise wins The Blower/Turbo Pro Mod at NEOPMA
The Northeast Outlaw Pro Mods “1320 Pro Mod Warrior Series” season opener at Virginia Motorsports Park was a huge success with over 20 Pro Mods contesting eight qualifying positions in each of the two classes. Read more to see who won the classes.
West Coast Outlaw racer Doug Sikora will race the 2010 racing season as a four time Outlaw Champion and record holder with excellent prospects for success. This past November, he victoriously reclaimed his Outlaw Champion status in his 2003 Mustang at the PSCA’s Edelbrock World Finals at the Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, California. It’s been a long five years since Sikora led the Outlaw class running back to back Championships for three years straight with the Pacific Street Car Association (PSCA) from 2001- 2003. As if to say “I’m Back”, Sikora and Crew Chief Jason Pettis also set a new ET record of 6.715 at the event sending a serious competition message to the class for the 2010 season.
Northeast Outlaw Pro Mods Season Opener this Saturday May 1st at VMP
This Saturday, May 1st the hottest Pro Mod Club on the East Coast, the Northeast Outlaw Pro Mods will bring the “Real Deal ” to Virginia Motorsports Park. The Northeast Outlaw Pro Mods “Pro Mod Warriors Series” season opener featuring Extreme Pro Mod and quarter mile racing will consist of two classes, Blower/Turbo’s and Nitrous. Gates open at 8 AM, and Eliminations start at 5 PM.
Virginia Motorsports Park is familiar territory for the Parise Racing team. Super Chevy has significant meaning to the team. So it seemed fitting that the team would be in attendance for the Super Chevy Show held last weekend at VMP. “The Super Chevy Show holds a close place in our hearts.” states Andrew Parise. “Super Chevy is where I decided to race again, where Dina decided she wanted to begin racing and where the Parise Racing team began…”
After we heard that Roush/Yates and Aeromotive were teaming up to build a new car for Steve Matusek to race in 2010, we couldn’t wait to get our first glimpse of the progress pictures, and from what we see so far, they’re nothing short of amazing. From the 500 C.I.D. twin turbo RYE motor, to the Liberty 5 speed transmission, this car has got it all.
Following devastating setback, Bradshaw on verge of Pro Modified debut
Following years of tireless work to make his dream a reality, Jimmy Bradshaw could only watch as it went up in flames before his very eyes. But less than a year later, he’s back and ready to make his Pro Modified debut with his gorgeous 1968 Dodge Dart.
DT Motorsports takes delivery of their newly painted Pro Mod and readies for NEOPMA
Derrick Townes took delivery of his newly painted 68’ Camaro from Performance Autocrafters this week. This Vanishing Point built pro mod raced 2009 with the Northeast Outlaw Pro Mod Association and after a full year under his belt, he is ready to take it up a notch and compete for a championship within the series.
The Rush Team and Their Rush ’33 Willy’s Pro Mod Make an Appearance
Spike Sterling, owner of the Rush ’33 Willy’s Pro Mod, with his “Orange County Choppers” mustache and pony tail, presents a very cool, marketable image that fits great with the NEOPMA and their “Extreme” themes. Driver Bobby Martin started on a match race circuit, and has since done appearances at schools, special events, and on ESPN2 national event coverage.
Back in November we first got word that Steve Matusek was selling off his Mustang to John Mihovetz as he prepared to build his new 2010 ‘Stang. Seemingly undergunned with just 281 cubic inches, Mihovetz has been clicking off some good runs right off the trailer, making some serious progress this weekend in the PSCA Pro Street ranks, going into the 3rd round..
