Great article.
So true on so many points.
I would love to run in an entry level heads up class myself.
But I cannot. I am a bracket racer. Probably always will be because of one reason…every racer in the staging lanes for a bracket or index race has one thing in common…it is the fact that every driver has the exact same chance at winning. Always has been, always will be.
No other form of motorsport is like that !

It’s great to see this nostaglic car come out again to race. As much as it is good to see the Jungle Jim funny car resurface! It brings back very fond memories…going to the tracks and helping support the nostaglic drags! Thanks CASSANDRA and BOBBY!

This is way cool! Onondaga Dragway was the swecond strip at which I plied my early-on trade. Would announce Saturday night at either Jackson Motor Speedway (oval track) or Detroit Dragway, sleep late at night in the Onodaga pits and announce there Sundays.

If the driver is well known, I’m guessing it might be an NHRA Funny Car driver who has lost his seat. Gary Scelzi, probably not, but maybe Whit Bazemore??? Anyone else care to speculate?

I’ve been racin’ on the street since the early 80’s and only because the nearest tracks are far away, until recently. Many times lost my priveledges because of my habit. I will be glad to get on a real track and do it legal. When they close down, or do not reopen old strips it hurts in more ways than one. $$$$and time.

I just read the Frantic Four (Weekly, Rivero,Fox & Holding) article in National Dragster. They were the team that evolved from Top Fuel to Funny Car and the Frantic Ford. It’s great to see this legendary car make it’s return!

It’s sad these old track blow away to the winds they shound be rebuilt to teach new drag racer the right way to race.My step brother got me started at 14 then the draft got me when got home i hit the drag strip. a different track each week in calif. On friday Drive all night to get their. after five years I hit three state. then one morning the man said i got recall back to the army. I miss drag racing bad.
