Expanded Race & Performance Expo Returns To Chicagoland Feb. 25-26
On February 25-26, the Race & Performance Expo returns to St. Charles, Ill. – this year expanded to encompass two buildings at the beautiful Pheasant Run Resort to include the new Circle Track Expo.
The 2012 NPD F.A.S.T. racing season closer was held at super-fast MIR Dragway in Mechanicsville, MD the first weekend of November. With the cool Fall air and super sticky racing surface, there was no better way to finish the year off.
After the success of its first full season in 2011, the all LSX drag strip action of the Chevy Performance LSX Challenge Series is back in 2012 with yet another full season of four events. We have the dates and venues for all four events inside, so start making your plans to attend now!
Just when you think the drag racing season was over, Bradenton Motorsports gets in the last hurrah with the last major heads up drag race of the year at the Snowbird Nationals. With all the popular heads up racing classes all in one place, plan for a snow-free race weekend in Bradenton, Florida!
It’s that time of the year when the weather turns cold in Las Vegas, but the track heats up for some of the fastest door slammers in the country to race at the Street Car Super Nationals. Keep it tuned to DRAGZINE all weekend for updates and photos from Vegas.
Del Worsham and Matt Hagan raced to their first NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series world championship titles and also earned race victories Sunday at the Auto Club NHRA Finals. Greg Stanfield (Pro Stock) and Andrew Hines (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also were winners of the season-ending race.
Sunny Bradenton, Florida was once again the site of the Outlaw Drag Racing Championships, while out West, the ADRL closed its season at the Texas Motorplex and Bakersfield got nostalgic with the 20th annual California Hot Rod Reunion. The NHRA’s Division 4 also closed out its season in Houston.
Last weekend, the IHRA season came to a head with the Summit World Finals presented by RacingJunk.com at Virginia Motorsports Park in Dinwiddie, Virginia. All said, nine drivers had taken different world championships by Sunday night, and all but two won their first title.
With the ORTC race in Georgia last weekend, the racers move further south to the birth place of the ORTC, Bradenton Motorsports Park. This weekend though is Bradenton’s version of the race called the ORDC. Check back to Dragzine all weekend for the latest updates from Bradenton.
Radial Revolution: No Mercy lived up to the hype with incredible racing in eight heads-up categories in Georgia over the weekend, while the NHRA title picture came into focus in Phoenix. The IHRA crowned it’s world champions in Virginia, and the NHRA Lucas Oil Series was in action in Georgia and Oklahoma.
Jack Beckman raced to his third Firebird International Raceway win and took over the Funny Car points lead as racing came to a close Sunday at the NHRA Arizona Nationals. Larry Dixon, Vincent Nobile and Hector Arana Jr. were also winners in their respective categories.

Tuesday Race Report: Shakedown, NMCA Finals, LSX Shootout, And More!
It was an exciting and busy weekend for heads-up drag racing over the weekend, as Raceway Park in Englishtown hosted the “can’t miss” Shakedown at E’Town, while the NMCA closed out the season with its World Finals and LSX Shootout at the Lucas Oil Raceway. The NHRA’s postponed Maple Grove event was also completed.
It’s early October in New Jersey, and that can only mean it’s time for 9th running of the popular Shakedown at E’Town at Raceway Park in Englishtown. Monday Race Report: NMRA Season Finale, NHRA In Reading, And More!
The NMRA crowned its champions at the traditional season ender in Bowling Green over the weekend, while the stars of the NHRA shattered the record books during the Auto Plus NHRA Nationals in Reading at the always fast Maple Grove Raceway and the hoops hung high at the Byron Wheelstanding Championships.
It’s that time of the year for one of the craziest races of the year – Byron’s wheel stand contest. While this is also a race, it is best well known for the Sunday competition. We will be bringing you photos all day Saturday and Sunday from Byron.
Rain was the ultimate victor at the Holcomb Motorsports Fall Outlaw Civil Wars at the Rockingham Dragway, but a questionable forecast didn’t deter a record numbers of racers and fans from turning out by the hundreds for one of the East Coast’s premier heads-up drag races.

Monday Race Report: Dallas NHRA, ADRL At Norwalk, Civil Wars, More!
It was upsets galore at the second race of the NHRA’s Countdown to the Championship at the Texas Motorplex, while the ADRL title picture came into clear focus at Norwalk. Holcomb Motorsports’ Fall Civil Wars succumbed to Mother Nature, while the NHRA Lucas Oil Series dodged the rain in Columbus.
Cruz Pedregon raced to his first win of the season and moved into the third spot in the Funny Car point standings as racing came to an end Sunday at the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals at Texas Motorplex. Bob Vandergriff, Jason Line and Michael Phillips were also winners in their respective categories.
Monday Race Report: NHRA In Charlotte, Ultimate Outlaws, And More!
The NHRA Countdown to Championship got underway at the stunning ZMax Dragway in Charlotte over the weekend, while Maryland International Raceway hosted the record-shattering Ultimate Outlaw Shootout on Saturday. The NHRA’s Division’s 4 and 6 were also in action.
Matt Hagan drove to his first win of the season and backed up his national record-setting run in the process as eliminations came to an end Sunday at the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Nationals at zMAX Dragway. Hagan was joined by Antron Brown, Kurt Johnson, Eddie Krawiec, and Leah Pruett-LeDuc in victory lane.
This near miss happened during a round of the LSX Rumble Class, when Mike Mester, the driver of the white 4th Gen Trans Am in the right lane, laid down what is arguably the most violent wheelie of all of LS Fest. Check out the videos from both the drivers’ point of view, and the opposing lane.
Monday Race Report: Holley LS Fest, ADRL At “The Rock,” And More!
The ADRL’s oldest event, Dragstock VIII, was held at the Rockingham Dragway over the weekend, as was the second annual Holley LS Fest in Bowling Green, Kentucky and the PSCA at the Auto Club Dragway in Fontana. The NHRA’s Division’s 1, 5, and 6 also brought their seasons to a close.
Frankie Taylor found the perfect birthday present for his wife – an American Drag Racing League (ADRL) win at Rockingham Dragway on Saturday. Joining Taylor in was Stan Allen, Dan Millen, Billy Vose, Scott Hintz, and Travis Harvey
The King of Clubs Rockabilly Road Trip and drag races, which take place at the Barona eighth-mile dragstrip at the Barona reservation, just east of San Diego, is not your typical, high-dollar motoring venue. In fact, the event is quite the antithesis of a lot of what we’ve seen today…
The NHRA’s Mac Tools U.S. Nationals was held at Indianapolis on its customary Labor Day date for the 57th time over the weekend, while the Yellow Bullet Nationals was contested for just the second time. Also in action over the extended weekend was the NMRA and the IHRA’s Pro-Am sportsman competitors.
Antron Brown raced to his third Lucas Oil Raceway win Monday as racing came to an end at the prestigious Mac Tools U.S. Nationals presented by Lucas Oil. Mike Neff, Greg Anderson and Hector Arana Jr. were also winners in their respective categories at the final race of the regular season.
This year will mark the second annual event for the infamous Yellow Bullet Nationals held at Cecil County Dragway in Maryland. Pro classes include OL 10.5, Drag Radial, X275 and 8.50 Index. 10.00 and 11.50 index are also on the bill. Keep tuned to Dragzine for updates through the entire weekend.

Monday Race Report: NMCA At Milan, Cordova World Series, And More!
The NMCA title pictures came into clear focus as the series visited the doorslammer-rich Milan Dragway for the next to-last race of the season, while the famed World Series of Drag Racing was held for the 58th consecutive year at the Cordova Dragway Park. The NHRA Lucas Oil series was also in action.
The always tough fields featured in the Texas Outlaw Pro Modified Association again delivered a great show at Texas Raceway on Friday night under the lights, and after a tough night of racing it was the top two qualifiers, Gaylen Smith and Doug Riesterer, left to battle it out.
The NHRA’s next-to-last regular season event concluded at the the Brainerd International Raceway on Sunday, while the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series and IHRA Pro-Am Series were in action in Washington, Maryland, North Carolina, and Kentucky over the weekend.
Antron Brown raced to his fourth win of the season in Top Fuel Sunday as racing came to an end at the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway. Johnny Gray, Greg Anderson and LE Tonglet were also winners in their respective categories.
The ADRL rolled into Virginia Motorsports Park for the Speedtech U.S. Drags IV, while the IHRA Nitro Jam tour brought its season to a close in Martin. The 40th running of the Pepsi Nightfire Nationals spectacular concluded at Firebird Raceway on Sunday, and NHRA’s Division 5 was also in action at Cordova.
After a frustrating season, Jason Scruggs finally put one in the winners column Saturday at the Speedtech U.S. Drags IV at the Virginia Motorsports Park. He was joined in victory lane by Mike Castellana, Dan Millen, Ashley Owens, Dean Goforth, Glenn Teets, and Mike Janis.
After more then two years since their last visit, the NMCA returned to the Beech Bend Raceway Park over the weekend, while the NHRA concluded the final leg of the Western Swing in Seattle. Also on the West Coast, the WCHRA was in Bakersfield, and back East, the NHRA and IHRA sportsman series were in action.
Tim Wilkerson ended a yearlong winless drought by racing to his third consecutive O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Northwest Nationals Funny Car victory Sunday at Pacific Raceways. Del Worsham (Top Fuel) and Jason Line (Pro Stock) also were winners of the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series event.
The NHRA’s annual Western Swing hit the midway point at the Infineon Raceway in Sonoma over the weekend, while the PSCA rocked the house in Las Vegas under the lights. The NHRA and IHRA divisional trails were both in action, along with the East Coast Door Wars in Maryland.
Antron Brown raced to his third Top Fuel victory of the season Sunday at Infineon Raceway. Ron Capps (Funny Car), Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) and LE Tonglet (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also were winners at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series event.
Record temperatures across the nation couldn’t slow the racing action over the weekend, as the NMRA tour rolled into the Milan Dragway, while the NHRA kicked off the Western Swing in Denver. Also, the Midwest Pro Mod Super Series visited Cedar Falls Raceway, along with a host of NHRA and IHRA Divisional racing.
Eddie Rogers continued his winning ways at Cedar Falls Raceway with a win over Randy Adler during the Night of Fire for his third straight win in the series and with the win secured the championship for his team.
Spencer Massey raced to his third Top Fuel victory of the season Sunday at the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals. John Force (Funny Car), Mike Edwards (Pro Stock) and Karen Stoffer (Pro Stock Motorcycle) were also winners at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series event at Bandimere Speedway near Denver.
The 10th annual F.A.S.T. and Factory Stock Summer Nationals did not disappoint. Despite the high gas prices, dour economy, 50 degree weather and rain being forecasted for Friday, the F.A.S.T. races ran two races simultaneously to help attract more cars to the class.

The ADRL tour shifted its way north over the weekend for the Ford Drive One Summer Drags VII at U.S. 131 Motorsports Paark in Martin, Mich., while the IHRA Nitro Jam series trekked even further north to Grand Bend, Ontario. The Northeast Pro Mods also joined the Super Chevy at Maple Grove in Pennsylvania.
Eddie Rogers continued his domination in the Chris Duncan Pro Mod Super Series, captured the top qualifying spot and also the win at Kansas City International Raceway over the weekend.
Jason Hamstra added a second victory to his 2011 season in front of a packed crowd at U.S. 131. Joining him in the winners circle was Mahana Al-Naemi (Pro Nitrous), Frankie Taylor (Extreme 10.5), Ashley Owens (Pro Extreme Motorcycle), Cary Goforth (Extreme Pro Stock), and Glenn Butcher (Top Sportsman).
