SEMA 2012: Advanced Clutch Technology Makes Your Life Easier

ACT hasn't forgotten their sport compact roots - like many companies attending this year's show, they had parts for the FR-S/BRZ/GT86 on display.

Advanced Clutch Technology (or simply ACT) of Lancaster, California has been in the business of creating performance clutches since 1994.

Of course, to be able to honestly keep the word “Advanced” in the company name, they’ve had to not just keep pace with progress in the aftermarket, but stay on the leading edge. They’re constantly adding new applications, and new technology.

One unexpected area where they’ve put much effort lately is their redesigned website, which makes it easier and quicker than ever to learn about how ACT clutches are built and find the right parts for their application.

Online visitors can browse through the different product lines ACT offers, or use a selection tool to quickly drill down and find exactly what’s available for their car or truck.

Product descriptions helpfully detail which parts are recommended for race use only, what kind of pedal force to expect, engagement characteristics, and even how noisy a particular clutch will be.

ACT's 2012 SEMA booth was very 'hands-on' - in addition to numerous displays breaking down how different clutch components are made, there were also interactive displays that demonstrated the pedal feel of an ACT clutch, and the difference in rotational force required to turn various types of flywheels.

ACT is justifiably proud of the large proportion of work they do in house - they're not just assembling kits out of a mix of stock and aftermarket parts.
