SEMA 2016: Powermaster Performance Has Starting & Charging Covered

Powermaster Performance’s recent additions to the product line is GM alternator brackets for LS engines.

Dropping by the Powermaster Performance booth at this year’s SEMA show, we talked to J.R. Richmond, who reminded us that Powermaster still has everyone’s starting and charging needs covered.

“We’ve got a couple of new items when it comes to bracket options for LS engines,” said Richmond. “When it comes to LS1 based or LSX based options, we have a new high-mount bracket that works great for guys that are swapping an engine into an old car and want to get rid of power steering and things like that.”

Richmond also pointed out that Powermaster’s new race-oriented brackets will soon be available for LS engines. “These will help remove all of the accessories off of the engine, and allow the user to run just an alternator. It keeps things nice and simple.”

One of the biggest highlights of the Powermaster additions this year is the long-style GM waterpump mid-mount alternator bracket. “We’ve done short waterpump and electrical waterpump mounts for years. We kept getting calls about the long waterpump mounts, so we added them this year.”

It wouldn’t be a SEMA tradeshow with Powermaster Performance introducing a new replacement alternator, and we were not disappointed. Richmond led us to their latest vintage-looking GM alternator/slash generator. “One of our biggest things this year is a replacement upgrade alternator that resembles a generator and fits most GM car or truck applications from 1963 all the way up to 1983,” he stated.

“It uses the standard 6.61 bolt spacing, and gives the operator 165 amps total, and 100 amps at idle,” Richmond confirmed. “And it is a direct bolt-on replacement.”

The popular Power Gen is in high demand. You get alternator performance with stock generator looks.

Powermaster is producing Power Gen models to meet the overwhelming demand from enthusiasts. “We are still doing the long and short case GM Power Gens, in both 6 and 12 volt, said Richmond. They are a direct replacement for the original generator, but give you 90 amps in a one-wire installation that looks the part. But, these allow you to run more modern accessories without the fear of burning up your generator or external regulator.”

In closing, Richmond also took the time to tell us about Powermaster’s starter packages that have always been very popular. “Our 9500 XS Torque series, which is the smallest, lightest starter package you can buy, is available for almost any application. We’ve got all the bases covered here: big-block, small-block, Chevy, Ford, or Mopar. We’ve got everyone covered.”

Powermaster has everyone covered in lightweight starters from big-blocks to small-blocks in the big three Detroit automakers.
