From March through November of next year, the NHRA’s Pro Mod Drag Racing Series will contest a ten-race schedule, with each event to be televised in the fourth quarter of the year on the Velocity Channel.
That’s right – Pro Mods on TV! Unfortunately it won’t be same-day, or even same-week, but that doesn’t matter. You’ll finally have a chance to check out some of the best drag racing in the world thanks to the folks at Velocity and Masters Entertainment Group, who will produce the show.
“We anticipate an exciting season of racing in the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series and look forward to the Velocity Channel putting the NHRA Pro Mod Series on television to showcase these 250-mile-per-hour race cars,” said Tom Compton, president of the NHRA. “We also thank the presenting sponsors of the NHRA Pro Mod Series events for their support which makes it possible to conduct the series.”
[2]The Pro Mod series kicks off at the Gatornationals in Gainesville, Florida, during the weekend of March 13-16 before moving to the SpringNationals, which is held from April 25-27 at Royal Purple Raceway in Texas. Georgia’s House of Speed, Atlanta Dragway, sees the Pro Mod gang returning over the weekend of May 16-18, before the Summernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ hosts the group from May 29-June 1.
Bristol Dragway hosts the Pro Mods over Father’s Day Weekend, June 13-15, and then Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk gets a turn on Independence Day Weekend.
From there, the series takes a break until the U.S. Nationals held at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis over the August 27-September 1 Labor Day weekend. From there, it’s off to zMAX Dragway in North Carolina September 12-14 for the Carolina Nationals.
The next-to-last event is scheduled for September 26-28 at Gateway Motorsports Park near St. Louis, before the season finishes off October 30-November 2 at one of the coolest race tracks in the world, The Strip At Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Nevada.
It’s shaping up to be a great year of Pro Mod racing, and we can’t wait to see it on TV.
