The B&B Race Cars shop in central Tennessee is hopping with activity. Among their laundry list of highly anticipated projects on the jig is four 2010 Camaro’s that are being prepped for three different customers.
As we reported back in December, NMCA Mean Street champion Don Baskin is having an all new Camaro built for his step up to the high-winding, gear-banging Pro Stock class this year. Plans call for a Bischoff Racing Engines-prepped naturally aspirated small block Chevrolet under the hood, backed by a Liberty five-speed to make what sounds like just a ball to drive. Baskin’s car is currently ready for powder coating and paint and is only a few weeks away from being
ready. Because GM hasn’t been manufacturing parts to complete the bodies-in-white, Baskin has purchased a second, wrecked Camaro that will have its parts stripped to complete the first car. Following the second acquisition, Baskin decided to have it finished in race trim as well, making for a 2-car Camaro effort in 2011.
Chris Daniels, who made it all the way to the semifinal round of Radial vs. The World at The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia before he became Davis Wolfe’s next victim, sold his killer F-body Camaro following the race. He now has a BIW Camaro in the shop with work set to start soon. Daniels plans to run the car in ORSCA Limited Street, with a big 830-inch, 5.3” bore space Gene Fulton engine for power.
B&B owner Darren Breaud has offered his GTO to Daniels for the rest of the season while the Camaro is built.
Also, another recent arrival is a BIW Camaro belonging to Hendrick Motorsports. The car will be setup in similar fashion to a Limited Street car with a small tire, but will likely only be run at some bracket racing events. Maybe we’ll see Jeff Gordon or Jimmie johnson behind the wheel to battle it out with Kurt Busch’s Challenger on the quarter mile.
