Officials from the American Drag Racing League have announced the series’ 2014 schedule, which will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the popular 1/8-mile door slammer drag racing series, that will feature eight events at eight different world-class venues.

On it’s anniversary tour, the ADRL will return to its traditional and popular Friday-Saturday format at six of the eight events, while two of the most prestigious events on the schedule – Dragpalooza X and Dragstock XI at the Rockingham Dragway in North Carolina – will run on a Friday-Saturday-Sunday format, allowing for qualifying on /friday evening, final qualifying on Saturday, and eliminations on Sunday. The remaining races will consists of two qualifying shots on Friday, one final qualifier on Saturday morning, with final eliminations following in the afternoon. Sunday will be utilized as a rain date for these events.

“Dragpalooza and Dragstock are our two most prestigious events,” said ADRL President Kenny Nowling. “We felt adding the extra day was important given the magnitude of those two events. This will allow us to run one qualifying session Friday night under the lights, three qualifying sessions on Saturday and final eliminations on Sunday.”

The 2014 ADRL Tour will kick off April 3-6 with Dragpalooza X at historic Rockingham Dragway, before heading north to Maple Grove Raceway in Pennsylvania, May 1-3. The series will then roll into Memphis for the first of two visits, May 22-24, followed by the Summer Drags X at the US 131 Motorsports Park in Michigan on June 26-28. The series will remain in the midwest, with the Midwest Drags at Cordova Dragway Park held at a yet-undetermined date in July. The ADRL will then return to Rockingham for the biggest door slammer race of them all – Dragstock XI – in Rockingham, September 4-7. The U.S. Drags VII at the Virginia Motorsports Park will then set the stage for the season finale in Memphis, with the World Finals X slated odor the weekend of October 23-25.
