The American Drag Racing League has became one of the most prominent racing organizations in most recent years. Kenny Nowling has taken a dream by the wing and lead it to be the hot bed for outlaw style racing. The series has proven to be a fan favorite with free admission to their events with the help of their sponsors. Well 2010 is not going to be any different for fans and racers alike when the season opener kicks off in Baytown, Texas. It may just be the hottest show on four wheels and two.
Catch all the action of the ADRL on their website. Dragzine has become a familiar name in featuring their brand.
Over the weekend the ADRL racers broke out the hot rods and headed out for some pre-season testing. We already seen the highlight of “Turbo” Todd Moyer breaking into the three second zone with his twin turbo Chevrolet Cavalier which is prepared for Extreme 10.5 competition. Moyer is a fan favorite and has been pushing his combination to the limits to joing the three second club.
On another note reigning Extreme 10.5 Champion Spiro Pappas was out in force at Houston Raceway Park. Pappas wheeled his Pontiac GPX to a 3.93 second run at nearly 195mph. Rumor has it that the crew made mention of a light tune-up and there is plenty more where that came from.
In some more testing news from Houston it was the Goforth duo of father and son. Dean and Cary were testing with their Extreme Pro Stock entries. They both managed to reset the speed record for Pro Stock that was previously held by Matt Hartford. Cary was first up and ran a [email protected]. Dad would have last word though as he outdid his younger counterpart. Dean blasted to 179.11mph with a 4.063 elapsed time. The Goforths are surely ready for the season to get started as their testing ended on a high note. They will be ready to try and dethrone reigning champion Hartford.
In one of the more interesting tid bits from the news desk is that Barklage Racing will be a two car team this season.
Cody Barklage campaigns a 1967 Firebird in Pro Extreme and he will be joined by his older brother Zach. Zach is no stranger to being behind the wheel and he will campaign a new 1957 Chevrolet along side Cody’s Pontiac. Look for all of these teams when it comes time for the tree to drop in Baytown, Texas. Dragapalooza kicks off March 19th and 20th at Houston Raceway Park.
