Andy McCoy Race Cars Unveils Chris Russo’s New 1969 Chevelle Pro Mod

Chris Russo has been wheeling a blown Pro Mod for close to a decade, and after taking a break from drag racing he’s making a grand return to the sport with a killer new car. Russo has taken delivery of an exquisite 1969 Chevelle from Andy McCoy Race Cars [1] that’s full of the newest innovations and the best parts available. Now that Russo has his new ride, he plans on returning to his winning ways in 2017 behind the wheel of this blown beast.

The Andy McCoy-built Chevrolet has been outfitted with all of McCoy’s latest and greatest chassis design work and topped off with an extra-slippery 1969 Chevelle body to aid in laying down some stellar times at the track.

To provide the power, Russo teamed up with his friend Darren Mayer, owner of the supercharger company DMPE Inc. [7], to make sure he had the horsepower needed to go rounds anywhere. The overall engine combination is very top secret and Mayer enlisted the help of CP Carrillo [8] to help create a rotating assembly that will take all the abuse the blower can throw at it. Russo will shift gears inside the Chevelle via a Lenco transmission.

Russo plans to put the new car to the test early by racing with the PDRA [10] in their Pro Boost class and running with the always-fast Northeast Outlaw Pro Mod Association [11]. Make sure you check out this entire video from Andy McCoy Race Cars that shows just how much detail this car has in it.
