Spy shots have wheeled around social media about this very interesting build coming from the creative minds at BES Racing Engines and we’re going to give you the inside scoop. This trick 1996 model Ford Mustang is owned by none other than Mr. BES himself, Tony Bischoff and will be driven by Nick Bacalis, one of the lead engine builders and designers at Bischoff’s world renowned high performance shop. Starting at the foundation, the chassis is a 25.3 specification piece built by Gary Rohe Race Cars and features a host of Strange Engineering and AFCO Racing products to keep the car hooked up and gone.

A set of brakes from The Brake Man will slow down this powerful, yet, lightweight Ford Mustang after each and every pass down the dragstrip.

Hiding behind a set of Weld Racing wheels topped off with Cartel beadlocks sit a set of brakes from The Brake Man that will slow down this powerful yet lightweight Ford Mustang after each and every pass down the dragstrip.

Under and through the hood pushes a 700 cubic inch naturally aspirated, 5-inch bore space monster built in-house at BES that starts with an LSM billet engine block and topped off with a set of cast heads, with a BES custom touch on the valve location and port designs. It’s topped with a custom intake manifold and an A/Fuel Dragster-style throttle body and scoop that is certainly one-of-a-kind for a naturally aspirated door car.

Holley EFI with coil-on plug is being used to control the engine, along with Aeromotive products to fuel the more than 1,570 horsepower between the fenders. RPM Transmissions has built one of their lightweight Powerglides for the build and a custom bolt-together torque converter from Ultimate Converter Concepts completes the drivetrain. Racepak Data Systems will keep the horsepower making duo up to date with everything happening on each run.

The unique A/Fuel scoop is something never seen before in door car racing and knowing the minds at BES, there is a reason behind the madness.

Bacalis was quick to thank all of the companies and sponsors who have been a part of this unique build, including Valvoline, Manley, Total Seal, MSD, Port-A-Tree, Racequip, American Racing Headers and more. When asked about what the plans were for this naturally aspirated monster, Bischoff and Bacalis confiemd that they will make a full run at the NMCA Street Outlaw class, along with local Pro Street racing at Ohio Valley Dragway and in the Xtreme Racing Series (XOS). The pair have been around heads-up racing for years, and now that they have a lightweight monster packing a huge punch, don’t be surprised to see this team turn some heads in 2017.
