2010 – the year of the Corvette? Despite the craze over the new and old Mustang in most forms of drag racing, the new Corvette body style has quickly been put to use in both Ron Schlessinger/Larry Wood’s Outlaw 10.5 camp, and on Steve Petty/Tim Lynch’s instant success of a new ride. We’re familiar with John Carter from his Outlaw Drag Radial Corvette, but it looks like Carter is going to try his hand in Outlaw 10.5 competition with a new car, another similarly-themed Corvette.

Checkout the spy pics that Proline Racing snapped while checking over the car’s progress at Bell Chassis Works this past week.

Much like the radial ‘Vette, Carter is pushing the envelope again in the cubic inch department. While the radial ride runs a 632 BBC, this new car will get an engine setup nearly identical to what Tim Lynch runs in his Z06 – a fully custom built 670″ with twin Precision Pro-Mod 94mm turbos, built by none other than Proline Racing. Keeping true to his fondness of intricate two tone paint schemes, the car wears a slick maroon on black paintjob.

As seen in the background of some of the pictures, Carter’s drag radial powerhouse is also up on the lift for some regular post-race maintenance and a few pre-race adjustments and updates. While it seems that these newer Corvette’s are beginning to really catch on with builders and become more commonplace, there’s just something about wild 600+ C.I. outlaw rides, they just never get old. Surrounding himself with one of the best tuners and chassis builder/fabricators, Carter’s new ride is in good hands, but will it match the success Tim Lynch and Steve Petty are having with their almost identical setup?
