There’s just simply no way around admitting how bitchin’ blown alcohol and fuel Altereds are, regardless of the generation they’re a part of.

The classic Fuel Altereds from the 1960’s are a thing of legend, with their short wheelbase, high center of gravity and high-centered engine position, along with straight front axles that all collectively add up to no such thing as a straight and smooth pass down the 1320.

However, today’s Altereds are a different breed, built atop longer wheelbase and lower slung Top Alcohol Funny Car or Fuel Funny Car chassis. Despite that fact though, there’s just something innately cool-as-all-get-out about them – with old replica Fiat of Model T bodies draped over the drivers compartment, the sinister supercharged bullet hanging out in the wind, the shapely headers resting just inches from the pavement, and a often gargantuan wing protruding from atop the roll cage of the rear of the chassis.

Longtime Top Alcohol Funny Car racer Bill Naves, a New England native now residing in North Carolina, recently unveiled this new creation out of his Shooting Star Motorsports stable, known as ‘Extreme Pursuit.’ The blown Fuel Altered features a 526 cubic inch Keith Black Hemi and sports a police-themed paint scheme, complete with the car number 911 and a red and blue lightbar over the front windshield to complete the theme.

In our opinion, while they share virtually the same chassis, a Funny Car simply can’t compete with the looks of a well-designed Fuel Altered such as this one.
