Luke Bogacki locked up his second NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series World Championship last weekend at Silver Dollar Raceway and the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Southeast division event.  The Carterville, Ill., racer clinched the Super Gas Championship to go along with his 2013 Super Comp NHRA Lucas Oil  Series World Championship.

Bogacki had built up a nice lead in the point’s standings having collected five wins this season but Tom Stalba, former Super Gas champion Jeff Lopez and Steve Parsons still had an outside shot at overtaking him going into the event in Reynolds, Ga.  All three drivers needed to win multiple events late in the season to have a chance.  Lopez and Parsons elected not to make the long trip east eliminating them from the chase and Stalba lost in round three ending his championship run and officially crowning Bogacki the 2014 champion.

The former NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League competitor scored national event wins in Topeka, Kan., and Joliet, Ill., this year to go along with divisional wins in Indianapolis to start the season, Joliet, Ill., and St. Louis.

In addition to his two world championships, Bogacki has three NHRA Lucas Oil Series division championships.  He won the 2013 Pacific Division Super Comp Championship and both the Stock and Super Comp 2010 Southeast Division titles.  He also won the South Central Division 12-13 year old Jr. Dragster Championship in 1993.

His two national event wins this year bring his total to eight for his career along with nine divisional wins.
