Not to be outdone by his fellow competitors, Brad Edwards, who clicked off the first-ever three-second pass in radial tire history a few weeks ago at the inaugural Radial Fest in Huntsville, Alabama, returned to the site of his historic pass today in a top-secret session with track prep wizard Tyler Crossnoe and his VP Racing Fuels glue to take back what was rightfully his.
After running 3.99, a pair of 3.97’s, and a 3.95, he accomplished just that, storming to a 3.947 at 193.13 mph blast, compliments of a 1.019 short time and a 2.663 to half track.
After running the barrier-breaking 3.99 in the fina round at Radial Fest to oust Jamie Hancock, fellow Radial versus The World runner Keith Berry towed down to Florida and the Bradenton Motorsports Park for a multi-day test session, with every intention of taking back the record, even if in an unofficial capacity. He did so with a 3.97-second lap, which led Edwards to begin making plans for a home run derby session of his own at the Huntsville Dragway.
Whether the record remains at Edwards’ 3.94 at the close of this, one of the most exciting late-seasons ever, is anyone’s guess, but there’s no denying that all-out war was and still is being waged on the record books, and there’s no telling what we can expect in 2015.
