MSD is a name synonymous with all kinds of racing. It seems like the company’s line of ignition components have been on race cars since the beginning of time. Actually, the company has been producing one of the most popular ignition systems for over 40 years. And this weekend at the NHRA O’Reilly Auto Parts Spring Nationals at Royal Purple Raceway in Houston, Texas, Top Alcohol Dragster racer Cameron Ferre will be flying the MSD flag into battle.
Ferre and the Miersch Racing team are running a limited schedule for 2015, and with the race being in MSD’s home state, the sponsorship makes perfect sense. MSD also believes Ferre is one of those up and coming drivers, who’s poised to move up to Top Fuel. “MSD Performance is one of the biggest names in all motorsports and we are excited to showcase this on the Miersch Racing A/Fuel Dragster in Houston this weekend,” Ferre says.
“Ferre is in the family of companies as an employee with Racepak Data Systems so it was a natural fit to jump on board with Cameron and Miersch Racing,” MSD’s Director of Marketing Joe Dussol says. “MSD is happy to support Cameron as he works his way through the ranks into the seat of a Top Fuel dragster.”
“We have had great success early on this season. I switched back to my standard combination with Brad Anderson Engineering heads, and considering we do not even have 20 runs on the combo we have seen positive results thus far,” car owner and tuner Larry Miersch adds.
Miersch and Ferre will be looking for more positive results around noon Friday, when round one qualifying begins.
