Chassis Engineering isn’t wasting any time getting more of their new Eliminator XTR Chassis-based cars ready for the track. On the table right now is a 1970 ½ Camaro that’s being built for Jason Ventura to be raced in the PDRA. This racecar will feature tons of new parts from Chassis Engineering and will help to push the development of their new XTR Chassis even further along.
When Chassis Engineering announced it would be returning to building cars and using their own chassis as the base, it was only a matter of time before orders began to come in. The car that Ventura commissioned Chassis Engineering to build will start out in Outlaw 632 and then will be used in Pro Nitrous action when Ventura is ready. Powering the Camaro will be Fountain Racing Engines mill with Lee Lataocke-built heads and Pat Musi fuel injection and nitrous. Behind the big engine will be a FTI-built Powerglide and torque converter putting the power down.
According to Chassis Engineering owner Clayton Murphy, Ventura’s car will be assembled with parts that save on weight and will be sold separately to the public soon.
“Everything is lightweight on this car — it uses carbon fiber brakes, body, and our new titanium products, as well. The pedals, slide mount for the transmission, driveshaft can, the lower portion of the steering column, fuel cell loop, door and window frames, and parachute pack mount are all titanium. These are all new products we’ve been working on developing and will be an option on our cars and for sale separately, as well.”
