Our good friends at Chris Alston’s Chassisworks have long been one of the staunchest supporters of west coast heads-up drag racing, and this weekend they’ll have that commitment on fine display as they serve as the title rights sponsor of the Pacific Street Car Association’s Chassisworks Spring Shootout presented by Vortech Superchargers at the Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, California.
This weekend’s event will serve as the pseudo-season opener for the PSCA, as inclement weather forced the cancellation of the original opener at Fontana in late March. The Spring Shootout will feature competition in Outlaw 10.5, Xtreeme Drag Radial, Wild Street, Outlaw 8.5 and 235 Limited, along with Open Comp, Super Index, Triple Index, and a host of other index and bracket racing categories.
As an addition for this race, the PSCA is offering incentives such as double championship points and 2-for-1 class entry. If any driver can work their way to victory lane in two categories, a $1,000 Double-Up bonus will be awarded. By simply purchasing two tech cards at the front gate and taking them to the PSCA registration trailer, racers can get in on the two-classes-for-one price.
“We’re excited to be back in Fontana and especially excited to put these programs together that gives our racers the ability race for bonus cash,” said PSCA President Mel Roth. “We kicked the year off big in Las Vegas and we’re going to carry that momentum into Southern California.”
