This past weekend Classic Instruments was recognized with another distinction at the recent Goodguys PPG Nationals in Columbus, Ohio. The event is one of the largest hot rod/street rod events of the year, and typically the showcase for new products and groundbreaking technology along with the latest custom car builds.
The Boyne City, Michigan based company was the recipient of the 2016 Goodguys award for Best Electrical Components and Accessories for Instruments with their latest release, a line of full sweep gauges.
Launching in 1977, Classic Instruments has set their sights on becoming a leader in the electrical gauge market. Using the most current technology in computer chips, servo motors, solenoids, remote sensors, micro-processors and other components, Classic Instruments have refined remote electrical sensing for electrical gauges.
Classic Industries new full-sweep gauge line, barely released to the market last quarter, are available in two sizes, 2 1/8-inch or 2 5/8-inch, with 18 different design styles to choose from. The gauges represent 13 different instruments with the company planning on releasing more offerings later this year.
The difference between a full and short-sweep is generally 90 degrees for a short-sweep and 270 degrees for a full-sweep gauge. With a longer scale range on the gauge face, the full-sweep gauges have optics that make it easier to read quicker because the gauge ticks are spread further apart. This makes the full-sweep gauges perfect for performance applications where accurate readings at a moments notice are required.
According to company owner John McLeod, “Developing a high performance line of gauges was a massive undertaking and wouldn’t have been possible without help from some professionals in the performance automotive field. I’d like to thank Tom Gale, a retired vice-president at Chrysler, Jason Line of KB Racing, a two-time World NHRA Pro Stock Champion, and Kyle Tucker, owner of Detroit Speed Engineering.” Tucker is known as a top-notch driver in the popular autocross racing sport.
“None of this would be possible without their help and of course, the greatest team on the planet, Classic Instruments,” he added.
According to McLeod, “The full-sweep release makes Classic Instruments the only aftermarket instrument manufacturer to offer a complete lineup of instruments to cover every monitoring need.”
