England has a long and illustrious history of producing some truly gorgeous automobiles, like the Aston Martin DB9 and the Jaguar E-Type, cars that exude class, performance, and sex appeal. Unlike big American muscle cars, most British sports cars were designed with handling the narrow roads and tight corners of many English villages with ease.
Most, but not all.
Take for example the Jaguar XJS coupe, a British version of American muscle, though it never boasted a powerful V8 in the same vein as the 1960s big-blocks that dominated Smalltown, U.S.A. Yet used Jaguar XJS coupes have found a second life in America as a classy candidate for a V8 conversion, and we found one such car, a potential Pro Street racer nicknamed the “Draguar” up for sale on Craigslist.
Packing a powerful 477 cubic-inch Chevy big-block V8, the Draguar is already all wired up and running and just waiting for a new owner to finish this project proper-like. The Draguar was built for a 250 shot of nitrous, but the kit hasn’t been added yet for some reason. Even so, the 477 runs on pump gas, and the seller claims to have already put 100 miles on this motor.
Yet without any runs down the track, it is hard to really call the Jaguar a Pro Street racer, at least not yet. Once you add nitrous (or your power adder of choice) though, this rumbling, grumbling Jaguar will roar down the road or the track fast and loud. Besides some racing wheels and a huge hood scoop, this car has been kept appropriately classy on the outside.
But on the inside, it’s all business, sort of like a hitman in a suit. And for $28,000, you can put a hit out on the competition next time you roll up to the drag strip in the Draguar.
