The 2016 Dirty South No Prep Racing Series shattered the stereotype of what people could expect with No Prep racing. Promoters Mike Murillo and Scott Taylor injected the unpredictable nature of No Prep racing with the excitement of a points chase from class racing to create a unique racing environment. The series is back for 2017 and will be cranking the action up to a new level, and you’ll be able to catch the season opener of the Dirty South No Prep Racing Series right here on SpeedVideo.com from Hub City Dragway!
Last season’s success of the Dirty South series added a boost of momentum coming into 2017 that Murillo is using to help make the series better for the racers. “There’s a lot of big-name sponsors onboard with us like Strange, Wiseco, Precision Turbo, and Kooks that normally aren’t a part of No Prep racing. They wanted to be a part of this style of racing now based on what we started last year. What we’re trying to do is get more sponsors involved so we can give all of our racers even bigger payouts.”
What has helped drive the momentum for the series is Murillo and Taylor’s extensive racing backgrounds — they think differently than most promoters and are trying to make sure to keep the participants’ best interests in mind and introduce new things the racers will appreciate. “The racers loved the points system we implemented and it made the racing more exciting. We’re going keep bringing our experience to the series and do some amazing things for our racers this year,” Murillo says.
For 2017, Murillo and Taylor are planning to bring some great things to the racers to give them the best experience possible. “We’re going to have a lot more organization in our series this season. Whether that’s through how the events are setup, rules for weights, and other items as well. The rules we’re bringing on are there to help level the playing field and keep things in No Prep racing from spiraling out of control. Our goal is to bring the best parts of class racing to the No Prep world to make the events run better,” Murillo explains.
