The 1970’s were not exactly an exciting time for American automobiles. Gone were the high performance muscle cars of the 60’s, replaced by paper-thin fuel sippers with no power and zero sense of style. However, hardcore racers quickly realized that these 70’s econoboxes could look cool and go fast with some creative modifications.
So it is that we bring you this beauty of a Chevy Vega station wagon found for sale on RacingJunk. Gorgeous is the right way to describe this Vega, which as it turns out was purchased brand new and immediately converted into a drag racer.
This Vega station wagon has a cool history attached to it, and comes with complete paperwork and documentation backing up the cool story behind it. But let’s get down to the goods under da hood. This Vega packs a destroked small-block Chevy V8 with a full compliment of racing parts, and is backed by a Tremec 5-speed transmission.
Unlike so many other Vegas, this one has been cared for, and is in mint condition. That it is a station wagon is only a bonus as far as we’re concerned. There isn’t an asking price, but we doubt this Vega would go cheap. How much would you pay for this old econobox wagon with a rich racing history?
