eBay Find: Wild Supercharged Pro Street Camaro

car 1 [1] Digging through eBay Motors you can find just about anything with four wheels that you can imagine, from killer project cars that were never finished, to turn-key show winners and race cars of all kinds available for purchase. If you really dig around you can find a project that was finished, is turn-key, and has race car written all over it, and this wild yet clean 1969 Pro Street Camaro [2] fits all three of those criteria, and much more.

The Pro Street car movement really took off in the 1980’s and into the early 1990’s. There was a real need for something new in the car scene, and Pro Street cars fell right into that void. A typical Pro Street car from this time period would look like it was peeled right off the drag strip, had a set of license plates slapped on it, and turned loose on public streets.  Most of these cars would be sporting a huge blower sticking out of the hood, or cowls with big nitrous-huffing bullets for power. You’d also expect to see a full back half and tub job done on the car with all the trimmings. Any self-respecting Pro Street car would also have an outrageous paint job or enough chrome to make a truck driver jealous. In essence, it would be exactly what you see here.

This first-generation Camaro fits the Pro Street mold to the letter, and then goes a bit further. Whoever built this car was not a fan of the sleeper concept, and that’s evident by the 565-inch Dart block motor sticking out of the hood with The Blower Shop 10:71 huffer sitting on top. According to the ad, a Powerglide from Mike’s Transmissions puts the estimated 1,200 HP to the ground through a Ford 9-inch rear with 40-spline strange axles. When you look at the interior shots you can see this car is here to party with an 8.50 NHRA certified cage. If you want to do Pro Street the right way, with a ride that embodies the very earliest competitive Pro Street cars in the Fastest Street Car Shootouts and the NMCA, this is your ticket. And it can be your new ride for a cool $80,000.
