Eddie Krawiec, the 2008 NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle champ, released a rendering of his slick new Outlaw Radial Drag Radial piece that is currently under construction. Eddie passed along a brand new rendering of his project, newly nicknamed “Radial-ation,” done up by Greg Zoetmulder of GregZ Design, which offers a glimpse of the clean appearance that he hopes to attain. The first thing that striked us was…hey, it’s purple! For the most part, in drag racing circles, if your car isn’t a Chrysler product, it probably isn’t purple. There are some exceptions to that, but not many. Amongst the sea of silver, black, and white Camaros, Eddie’s new ride will truly be a breathe of fresh air and kudos to him for wanting his ride to be unique.
The 2000 Camaro SS is currently taking shape at the renowned DMC Racing shop of Dennis MacPherson in Halifax, Massachusetts, where its receiving a 25.3 spec chassis. The state of the art lightweight chromoly front end and chromoly fabricated rear end will be supplied by Midwest Chassis & Performance. DMC will apply its own custom design for the rear suspension and torque setup.
Radial-ation will be receive its grunt from a 440 cubic inch LS small block mill, with a single 106mm turbocharger poking through the grille. The engine will be based off of an RHS tall deck aluminum block with a set of Performance Inductions canted canted valve cylinder heads, sporting Xceldyne titanium intake valves and Inconel exhaust valves with PSI springs. Jesel will provide the rocker shaft system, kyed .937 lifters and a belt drive distributor mounted on top. The internals will include CP Turbo pistons, Carillo H-beam rods, an SP crankshaft, and Dailey Engineering SP Series oil pump and billet aluminum oil pan. The estimated 2000 horsepower will travel through an ATI SuperGlide 4 transmission.
Not to imply that other racers don’t do the same, but Eddie has clearly put years of thought and planning into his radial-tire dream and has shown the patience to make it meet his vision and nothing less, and once it rolls out of the trailer, it will be one trick piece that will certainly stand out from the crowd.
