Evo Performance-Modded 2011 GT Street Car Breaks Into the 9s

How’d you like to have the wherewithal to say that the slower of your two Ford Mustangs runs in the nines? Oh, and that that particular car happens to be the one that you drive to work and the grocery store? Such is the case for Chris Cruz, who recently partnered with the Blue Oval barrier busters at Evolution Performance for a wicked street and strip ride that’s sure to hurt a lot of feelings at some stoplights.

Cruz already boasts an eight second 2007 GT California Special in his arsenal, and wanted to add a stout street car that he could occasionally take to the race track too. And so he dropped his automatic-equipped 2011 5.0L GT off at Evolution up in Pennsylvania for the royal treatment. Utilizing the factory Coyote powerplant, a Ford Racing/Whipple Twin Screw supercharger shows the real potential of this beast of an engine by producing 652 rear wheel horses on 12.5 pounds of boost with small modifications, such as 75lb fuel injectors, a Kenne Bell Boost-A-Pump, an L&M throttle body, cold air intake, a custom tune by the Evo crew, and of course a full aftermarket Borla exhaust system with longtube headers from American Racing.

Other additions include a Circle D Specialities Pro Series Billet Torque Converter mated to the factory 6R80 transmission, JLT Billet oil separators, Ford Racing 3.73 gears and lowering springs, along with upper control arm mounts, billet lower control arms, and an adjustable panhard bar and brace from Evolution Performance. The package is rounded out with some killer looking black Weld RT-S wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson ET Street D.O.T.’s on the track and RTR 19s on the street.

The 652 rear wheel horsepower and 577 rear wheel torque numbers equated to a very impressive 9.95 elapsed time at 142.63 MPH with a 1.50 short time running on 109 octane fuel during a recent outing at Atco Raceway in New Jersey.
