The American Drag Racing League has scheduled a press conference to be held on Friday, November 30 at the Performance Racing Industry trade show down in Orlando, Fla. this week, where officials are expected to announce a change in ownership and several other major developments regarding the 1/8 mile doorslammer drag racing series. However, a press release is already making the rounds ahead of said press conference, revealing Fight Hard MMA’s acquisition of the ADRL from Sheikh Khalid Al-Thani of Qatar.

“The last two years have been an exciting yet difficult time for our family,” said Fight Hard MMA President Jessica Nowling, wife of ADRL co-founder and former President Kenny Nowling. “We have enjoyed the challenge of building a new company and have met a lot of great people, but there has definitely been something missing. Drag racing has been a part of our entire life together and we had no idea that we would miss it so much.”

“First and foremost I want to thank Sheikh Khalid for everything that he has done, not just for the ADRL, but for the entire sport of drag racing,” said Kenny. “I also want to thank Tim and Diane McAmis for their tireless efforts in running the ADRL for the past two years. No one knows better than Jessica and I the immense amount of time and sacrifice that is required to run the ADRL. Every member of the ADRL family owes them and their staff a debt of gratitude.”

The press release also contains what could be a precursor to Friday’s announcement of the class lineup for the “new” ADRL, with mention of junior Dragster, Pro Junior Dragster, Top Dragster, Top Sportsman, Pro Extreme Motorcycle, Extreme Pro Stock, Pro Nitrous, and Pro Extreme. The series will also return to the controversial free ticket promotion that Nowling employed during his tenure and continues to utilize to this day in the Fight Hard MMA with considerable success.

For those unfamiliar with the Fight Hard MMA brand, Nowling, with support from business associates Dave Wood and Tommy Lipar, founded the Fight Hard MMA brand (known as Fight Me MMA at the time) in 2009 while Nowling was still at the helm of the ADRL. Fight Hard MMA is based in St. Louis Lake, Mo. and showcases professional mixed martial arts fighting and boasts some of the best young fighters in the nation.

Dragzine will be on hand at the PRI Show this week and will have another report following the ADRL press conference on Friday.
