While many may think that the NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis is the sports longest running continuous race at 56 consecutive editions, it is in fact the independent World Series of Drag Racing at Cordova Dragway in Cordova, Illinois that holds that dubious honor. With a host modern and nostalgia Funny Cars facing off match race-style, along with a multitude of exhibition vehicles on hand, this event continues its incredible success year after year.

The 57th running of the World Series of Drag Racing featured a family feud of Nitro Funny Cars, pitting the father and son duo of Tim and Dan Wilkerson alongside the Pedregon brothers: Tony and Cruz. Ten of the best Nostalgia Funny Cars in the business made the trek to the midwest to partake in the historic event, with former IHRA Top Fuel champ Paul Romine leading the field in his Man ‘O War Mustang with a stunning 5.79 elapsed time. The final round came down to Mike Savage in the vintage Candies and Hughes Barracuda, alongside Anthony Bronge’s “The Punisher ’69 Camaro. Savage took all the marbles with a 5.96 as Bronge had problems and slowed.
