Ford Auctioning 2014 Cobra Jet Prototype for MS At Barrett Jackson

Las Vegas is the home of many unique things. Over the weekend of September 26-28 you can add one more to that list, it’ll be the only place in the world where you’ll have the opportunity to do two things – purchase a one-of-a-kind Cobra Jet prototype, and help the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, all in one fell swoop.

DSC_0967asdFord Motor Company and Barrett-Jackson are auctioning off the car to benefit the National MS Society, and the winner will not only receive the car, but also a once-in-a-lifetime Mustang experience. The winning bidder will become an honorary member of Team Mustang, with full backstage passes to the Ford Product Development Center, Ford Design Studios, and Ford Racing.

“We’re proud to offer the opportunity for a serious competitor to up their game with this Mustang Cobra Jet,” says Steve Ling, North America car marketing manager for Ford. “But, just as important, we’re honored the proceeds will support the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s work with those living with this disabling disease of the central nervous system. Through our long-standing relationship with Barrett-Jackson, we continue to support charities through exceptional vehicle sales.”

DSC_1064_AaNot only will the winning bidder get all this cool stuff, but they’ll also get training at Roy Hill’s Drag Racing School, their experience at the Ford facilities captured for a future Mustang book and documentary, and video of the vehicle build, testing, and the action from the auction.

The Cobra Jet in question is powered by the 5.0L Coyote Whipple-supercharged V8 engine, has a T4 racing transmission, wheelie bars, a chromoly 8.50-legal cage, and all of the Cobra Jet goodies you’ve come to know and love over the years. This car was the prototype for the last-of-its-kind 2014 Cobra Jet and carries a unique serial number of #2014 BJMS CJXX1. The best part? The car’s covered in a one-of-a-kind Fiery Orange Satin hue, with dark gray reflective Cobra Jet stripe package.

It’s an incredible opportunity for someone with a big pile of cash burning a hole in their pocket to help those less fortunate with a horrible disease – and take home one of Ford’s most legendary race cars. Now, about that money tree…
