At the recent Performance Racing Industry show in Orlando, Florida, Ford Racing pulled the wraps off the newest in its lineup of factory-prepared race cars – the 2012 Cobra Jet Mustang – to much anticipation from attendees and web viewers alike. The current incarnation of the fabled CJ, produced for the 2010 model year, rolls on Weld Racing Wheels and has been a seemingly overnight sensation on the NHRA Stock and Super Stock trail, earning class wins and national records at virtually every turn.

For 2011, Ford Racing will produce 50 turn-key Cobra Jet’s that will now be available in three different color options – Race Red, Grabber Blue, and Winner White –  and once again, they will all roll off the assembly line in Flat Rock, Michigan on Weld Racing Wheels, now featuring a black anodized finish and sporting the iconic Cobra Jet logo.

The 2008 and 2010 model cobra Jets have already forged a strong legacy that follows up on the original Cobra Jet, earning high profile wins at the NHRA Winternationals in Pomona and the illustrious NHRA U.S Nationals in Indianapolis. Like it’s predecessors, the 2010 CJ will be a factory-built race car intended for NHRA class racing competition as well as NMCA, NMRA, PSCA, and IHRA. The 2010 will feature all of the same basic features as the 2010, including a full race-prepared automatic transmission, drag-race specific shocks and springs, manual steering and brakes, and 8.50 certified roll cage, and an Aeromotive return-style fuel system and fuel cell.
