JRi Racing Shocks customers had an impressive outing at last weekend’s PDRA Mid-America Indy Showdown at the legendary Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, as those running on the shocks designed and built in Mooresville, North Carolina, captured four of the event’s titles, including two of the series’ premier eliminators: Mike Recchia in Pro Extreme and Ty Tutterow in Pro Boost.
Recchia, just a couple of hours from his Chicago, Illinois home and with a flock of family and friends behind him, captured his second victory of the season in his 1969 Camaro that runs on JRi’s double-adustable rear shocks, as he defeated Mattius Wulcan on a holeshot in the finale, 3.578 to a quicker-but-losing 3.569.
The second-generation Tutterow, running on a set of four-way air-assisted shocks in his Galot Motorsports Camaro, earned his first career PDRA Pro Boost victory, doing so with a decisive defeat of Jeremy Ray, bettering him on both ends of the racetrack in a 3.729 to 3.751 drag race.
The Top Sportsman Elite finale was an all-JRi affair, as Dwayne Silance edged out Randy Perkinson in a spectacular race, Silance running dead-on 4.08 dial with a 4.080, as Perkinson did the same with a 3.972 on his 3.97 dial—Silance’s better .020 light serving as the difference-maker. Silance runs double-adjustable shocks on his first-gem Camaro, while Perkinson runs the the four-way air-assisted on his late model Camaro.
Sweeping the Top Sportsman show, Jeff Pittman added the final win tally to JRi’s count for the weekend, as opponent Gary Wojnowski Jr. lit the red bulb in the final round, sending Pittman and his stellar .005 light into the winner’s circle.
