Almost a year ago Gidi Chamdi powered into the record books by becoming the first person to punch a Nissan GTR into the six-second zone behind the wheel of the AMS Alpha G machine. That 6.937 blast at Royal Purple Raceway during TX2K17 made him a legend and set up a target for other racers to go after. ETS took the record from Chamdi by running a 6.88, and now the GTR record belongs to Alpha Logic in Dubai with their 6.85 pass at the Bahrain International Circuit.
The international competition to have the world’s quickest GTR has been heating up since Chamdi broke the magical six-second barrier. When ETS was able to wrestle it away with their booming 6.88 pass at 222 mph, there was little doubt who the king of the GTRs was. Alpha Logic Performance had been quietly working on their GTR known as “The Panda” and finally made their presence known with the incredible 6.85 pass at 212 mph to take the record.
The Panda is owned by Mohammed Al Baker with driving and tuning duties handled by Rob Harper. Under the hood is a T1R 3.8 Stage Six engine that uses a stock, 3.8 liter Nissan block that is controlled by a MoTech M150 ECU. A DMS turbo kit provides the boost, while a TR1 fuel system keeps the hungry engine fed. A Shep transmission backs the powerful engine and keeps the gear changes nice and crisp.
The Panda’s 2,820 horsepower helped motivate the car to a 1.16 60-foot time and stopped the 1/8 mile clocks at 4.55 on the record-setting pass. Check out this footage from Turnpike Racing League that shows The Panda on the dyno and then making history.
