In what has been far from a secret to those who have been paying attention, Precision Turbo & Engine founder Harry Hruska, rather than tabbing a hired-gun to pilot his Camaro in NHRA Pro Modified competition this season, will instead himself climb behind the wheel, beginning with the upcoming NHRA SpringNationals in Baytown, Texas.
Hruska completed his licensing requirements on March 21st. His announcement put to rest speculation over the winter regarding the vacant seat that’s existed since its most recent driver, Dan Stevenson, parted ways with the team late last season. Don Walsh, Jr., Jonathan Gray, and Billy Glidden have also filled the seat of the PTE Camaro.
“After over 20 years of putting my racing career on hold, I am excited to take on the pro mod challenges,” said PTE founder Harry Hruska. “I have great respect for those in this sport and after having worked with multiple professional drivers, I am humbled by the opportunity ahead.” Hruska added, “My deepest gratitude goes to my mentor Frank Hawley for his unconditional support and guidance, and for getting me up to speed. His contribution to our sport is unparalleled!”
“In 1987 I started Precision in order to support my passion for racing, and in 1993 the business evolved into my families primary income,” continued Hruska. “My last race in a late model circle track car was in 1996, so I am very eager to be back in a seat, and especially thrilled to be behind the wheel of my own Pro Mod Camaro.”
“I am excited to hear that Harry has decided to drive his Pro Mod this year. Harry is a very determined individual, and will without a doubt work very hard at becoming a successful driver, as well as team owner/tuner,” stated former Pro Mod driver and close friend Don Walsh Jr. “I wish him all the success that he deserves, as well as a safe season!”
Precision Turbo & Engine General Manager Roger Conley adds, “It’s always exciting to have a car of that caliber representing the company, on top of that, having the founder of the company driving is an additional benefit.”
