Heartland Motorsports Park Announces 2018 No Prep Nationals

[1]

No Prep racing has seen a huge spike in growth recently with more events and series racing than ever — now, another big one-off event is about to come to Kansas’ Heartland Motorsports Park [2] in 2018. The first annual No Prep Nationals will be held September 28-29 at Heartland Motorsports Park in Topeka, Kansas, and is promising to bring some NHRA level flair and surprises to this outlaw style of racing.

When Shelby Development, LLC purchased the Heartland Motorsports Park facility back in 2016 to keep it operating they promised to bring more exciting racing to the multi-use venue. Now, going into 2018 the company is acting on that pledge by bringing in the stars of the No Prep racing world for this high-stakes event that will give fans something to talk about this winter.

The No Prep Nationals will have a combined cashed purse of nearly $70,000 on the line that will surely attract the biggest names in No Prep, but the event will also have a slightly different format than other races. Teams will pit on the drifting pad at Heartland Motorsports Park while using the road course for a staging area, then race backwards towards the starting line. This will make the event a true No Prep party, since the top end of a drag strip never sees any traction compound or rubber at all.

A separate timing system will be used to start the races and signal who has won each race. The fans will also be able to get close to the action along the walls for this unique event. Stay tuned to Dragzine [6] for more information about this event as it becomes available.
