As promised, the International Hot Rod Association made a number of major announcements today at the Performance Racing Industry trade show in Indianapolis, many in regards to official class and series sponsorships for 2015 and beyond, but none were bigger then the expected return of the world’s quickest and fastest full bodied eliminator, Pro Modified.
“We at the IHRA are very excited to now announce the return of Pro Modified on an eight-race schedule for 2015 with a multi-year commitment to have the class with us for quarter-mile racing — blowers, nitrous, and turbo cars all running together,” said IHRA President Scott Gardner. “We’re going to have some fun, and we’re going to bring back what we built many years ago with the Pro Modified division.
Crower Racing Products, a longtime manufacturer of camshafts and valvetrain components for the racing industry, has stepped up to the plate to support the category as the official sponsor of the Crower Pro Modified class.
“We absolutely could not do this without the support of Crower, who has come behind the class and helped propel the IHRA to the next level,” Garnder continued.
“When we pursued introducing this category, we had to share it with some important folks that we felt could take this Pro Mod competition to another level. IHRA is about innovation, and our new Pro Mod class sponsor is about innovation, as well,” said IHRA’s Steve Cole.
The Crower Pro Modified class will showcase a combination of supercharged, turbocharged, and nitrous oxide injected cars, with a 16-car qualified field that is open to all competitors and will include a year-long championship points battle with more than $100,000 in prize money on the table.
