The plumbing on your racecar is more than just a bunch of hoses and connectors that need to be assembled, it’s a critical step in making sure your car functions correctly. If you’re just going through the motions of plumbing to get the job done that will lead to poor performances at the track or a catastrophic failure.
Every fluid system that is associated with the operation of a racecar will have a certain level of pressure and temperature accompanying it. These are very important factors to consider when choosing the connector you will use. Another thing to keep in mind is the fluids that will be flowing through the connectors — you want to ensure the seal material used in the connector will work with the fluid for that particular system.

Ryan Zillig from Jiffy-tite [5] explains what you need to get the job done right the first time when plumbing the various systems in your racecar.
“It really depends on what the function is of each part of your system. In some applications that you will not be servicing often, a standard -AN connection may work fine. Make sure you are using the appropriate fitting for your hose setup. The fluid compatibility should be the same for both the fitting and hose. Also, make sure you’re choosing the correct adapter for your hose. For example, a -8 hose and -8AN hose could be sized differently. Only a -8AN quick-connect will properly install with a -8AN hose,” Zillig explains.
