Over the past few years, we’ve seen the name Billet Atomizer grace the side of some blisteringly fast doorslammers, as the company has quickly become a leader in fuel injection technology. With the introduction of their newest injector, the Atomizer 4, Atomizer Fuel Systems Inc. plans to pick up where the Atomizer 3 left off.
Debuting at the end of July, this revolutionary injector is sure to change the landscape of heads-up drag racing. This total redesign of both the injector body and nozzle boasts an improved flow range, far beyond the potential of any other piece on the market, accurately controlling between 800 to 1500 pound per hour(PPH).
“The goal with the Atomizer 4 was to enable racers to manage the fuel demands of high-horsepower methanol applications, such as a 4,500 horsepower DiSomma Racing Engines Hemi, with only eight injectors,” said Jack French of Atomizer Fuel Systems Inc.
The added advantage of running this single style setup, versus the current dual-configuration that is required to achieve similar power numbers, is that if the delivery of fuel is impeded the engine is less inclined to detonate.
This body also features a larger rebuildable coil that increases the control of the injector at idle — an improved design that also allows for the precision control necessary to achieve these astonishing flow numbers. With the added perks of meeting the 8-2 driver requirements of your standard aftermarket ECU, that simplifies making the jump to these injectors, and there’s no need for specialized electronic hardware.
The final calibrations of this prototype injector are underway, and real world testing will commence in early June. Nothing seems to be able to stop the progression of EFI as it infiltrates every facet of this sport, and Atomizer Fuel Systems Inc. continues to be on the leading edge of this progression. We’ll be bringing you the impressive workings behind the Atomizer 4 and their entire lineup of fuel system components in a featured article in the near future, so stay tuned for more!
