The nations finest bracket racers will come together once again on June 2-5 for the seventh running of the JEG’S U.S. Open Bracket Championships – considered to be the “Big Go” of bracket racing – and they’ll do so this year at a brand new venue. Event promoters Mike Fuqua and Dave Szerlag have partnered with track owner Dallas Jones to bring the JEG’S U.S. Open to the scenic Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, KY for the first time.
The racing action at Beech Bend will kick off on Thursday with the American Race Cars Warm-Up Race, awarding a cool $10,000 cash and a new American Race Cars Swing-Arm dragster to the victor. The main event then takes place Friday through Sunday, with $20,000 on the line both Friday and Saturday and $10,000 in the Sunday finale. Other bonuses including prize packages for the best losing packages and even an always-entertaining golf cart index race are on tap for the weekend.
In is six-year history, the JEG’S U.S. Open Championship has crowned 20 different main event winners that are a virtual who’s who of bracket and sportsman racing stars. Among these elite winners is Edmond Richardson, who has claimed four titles including a 20 grand triumph last season, while Jeg Coughlin Jr., Peter Biondo, and Scotty Richardson each have a pair of U.S. Open titles to their credit.
