Ohio Tech College Holds Edelbrock Carburetor Builder Challenge

[1]

It’s stories like these that make us want to go back to college, if only for one day! Recently Ohio Technical College [2] partnered with Edelbrock [3] for the second year in a row to host a Carburetor Challenge during the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif. During the challenge, 15 local California high school teams from Monterey, Seaside, Castroville, San Jose, Hollister and San Andreas were allowed to tear down, inspect and re-assemble an Edelbrock carburetor.

The contest was held on Turn three in the Edelbrock trailer. Ohio Tech awarded a $1,500 scholarship to each participant, while the four fastest teams competed in a final challenge to earn prizes including Edelbrock gear, Matco tools and tuition scholarships. The 1st place winner received a $5,000 scholarship; 2nd place $4,000; 3rd place $3,000; and 4th place $2,000.

“After hosting a popular carburetor challenge at the recent San Diego County Fair held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, we encouraged additional California high school students to attend the Edelbrock Carburetor Challenge in Monterrey and show their passion for the automotive industry,” said Tom King, director of enrollment management at OTC. In addition to the challenge, Ohio Technical instructor Steve McBride was onsite to meet and talk with students interested in learning about the programs the college offers.
