Getting a sponsorship program for your racing is about more than just having parts handed to you, it can be about testing new products and helping other racers. Companies in the racing industry are more likely to reward racers who bring these attributes to the table with a sponsorship due to the positive exposure they provide. Street Outlaws star “KamiKaze” Chris Day will be partnering with Canton Racing Products to help them develop new items coming to market, and put together instructional videos for racers everywhere.
People automatically think that just because Day is on a TV show he gets all kinds of free parts, and they would be wrong. “Everyone assumes because of Street Outlaws that we get more things than we really do. I’m just a regular guy, working on the car in my garage and I’m honored to have sponsors like Canton helping me be able to afford to race at this level.”
Jeff Behuniak from Canton goes into some detail on exactly what products Day will be using in 2017. “We are going to be testing a few different products with Chris. Including a big stroke BBC oil pan and some of our liquid to liquid heat exchanger products.”
The approach that Day and Canton will be using for this sponsorship goes well beyond just a sticker on the El Camino and some products being used under the hood. “I’ll be doing a series of DIY videos showing me in my garage, using the products, how they are different than other products, and what makes it really work for me. We will do some live social media, where I will answer questions about the products, and maybe even get a chance to go and see how the products are made,” Day explains.
