Australian Top Doorslammer competitor Peter Kapiris this week unveiled his newest ride, a ’59 Chrysler Saratoga that will continue to carry the teams’ Batmobile moniker. The new car, built by renowned Aussie doorslammer chassis guru Murray Anderson, sports a flat black paint scheme with only the Kapiris Brothers Racing logo on the door and the “Batman” symbol for a hood ornament, making this classic Chrysler really take the look and persona of the caped crusaders’ famous vehicle. Kapiris and team have been working around the clock to get the car completed to begin testing next week in preparation of the opening round of the ANDRA Pro Series schedule on September 10-12 in Sydney, Australia.
Kapiris finished fifth in the ANDRA Top Doorslammer championship points chase in the 2009/2010 season behind the wheel of his ’53 Studebaker. The new Saratago is one the sleekest looking race cars we’ve seen in some time, with a slow slung, swoopy body lines, a short roof, and the low cut wheel openings that always make for a wicked ride. Kapiris broke into the magical five-second zone last season, and his aerodynamic new chariot may well give that performance an added boost.
