Holley’s LS Fest is one of the more unique racing events in the United States, as it has something for everybody from road course action to drag racing. This all-LSX-powered event brings out some interesting and fast cars from all over the country due to its diverse nature. Tim King’s 2011 Cadillac CTS-V falls squarely under the ‘fast’ category, as this nine-second brute isn’t your daddy’s Caddy, that’s for sure!
A few years ago, talk of a street car that could run low nine-second passes with good street manners would be met with skepticism and questions about the setup. These days, single-digit capable street cars are a common thing, and often they don’t use super exotic parts to put up amazing numbers at the track.
King’s CTS-V is a fairly simple setup that still uses the stock block and crank, but has Callies I-beam Rods along with Wiseco pistons added for strength. Rick Crawford Racing spec’d out a camshaft, ported the LS9 heads, and added a custom tune to the CTS-V. Topping off this savage coupe is a stock supercharger that’s been ported, and it’s also been plumbed for a 200 shot of nitrous that is progressed in on each pass.
The final product of this combination is lethal at the track and on the street. King’s current personal best elapsed time is a 9.17 at 150 mph with a 1.34 60-foot time. What makes those numbers impressive is the fact that the CTS-V weighs 4,300 pounds in full race trim.
