After campaigning their gorgeous — and original steel-bodied — 1955 Chevrolet for a number of years, Chuck Parker and crew chief Kirk Peters debuted an all-new machine last month in San Antonio, Texas: a car purpose-built for Big Tire no prep competition. Parker and Peters are from Oklahoma and are no strangers to the no prep scene, as they have appeared in a host of events and on the popular television show “Street Outlaws”.
It wasn’t until March at the Bounty Hunters event at San Antonio Raceway that ‘The 55’ team debuted the “Lil Sister”, which they had spent months working on. While the Lil Sister has the same basic look as the original 55, it couldn’t be more different. The new car is built in the manner of a Pro Mod, weighing 1,000 pounds lighter than its predecessor. It also has a more rigid suspension, making it hook easily on no prep surfaces. The Lil Sister sports a 632-inch aluminum big-block with three kits of nitrous onboard.
The Lil Sister wasn’t quite ready to run at the Bounty Hunters event, but the team has been working hard over the last month to dial-in the car at several prepped events. At the beginning of April, the Lil Sister had no problem qualifying number one for the PSRA Outlaw class at Thunder Valley Raceway in Oklahoma on one kit of nitrous. They ended up as the runner-up against Terry Teague. Then they won in the Big Tire class in the Ozark Raceway event in Missouri against Michael Roberts.
According to Peters, the Lil Sister does not use all three kits of nitrous, but planned to use two for No Prep Mayhem at Kansas International Dragway in Maize, Kansas over the weekend. The Lil Sister entered an extremely competitive class with heavy hitters like Daddy Dave, Birdman, and many more. Lil Sister took home the $10,000 purse at this event, beating Daddy Dave’s Goliath 2.0 in an exciting semifinal matchup before ultimately winning it all when Parker took out the Swampthing longtop Chevy Nova from the 601 crew in the finals.
Peters said they got the car running strong in a short amount of time and believe they will turn on the third kit when they feel they have a handle on the car. So far they can’t imagine needing it, since it’s running extremely well. Next month, Lil Sister will run in the Big Tire class at American Outlaws Live event in Ennis, Texas and hopes to turn up the heat to their competition with their gorgeous candy apple red Tri-Five.
