Lunati Great Cam Giveaway: And The Winners Are…

Lunati’s Great Cam Giveaway has been a huge hit since first being launched back in March, with more submissions from our powerTV readers and fans of Lunati than you can shake a stick at. This week, DRAGZINE took it’s turn in the 90-day long contest, and naturally we were pretty pumped for our chance to rummage through the countless numbers of worthy entries to select a pair of winners. The only downside to the selection process is that there are so many exceptional and worthy stories that it’s hard to eliminate any of them, much less choose just two. Alas, we simply had to narrow it down, and after consideration by the entire powerTV Editorial staff, the winners of this weeks Lunati Great Came Giveaway have been chosen. Dim the lights!

Travis Loggains

It’s been decades since the old Gasser-style Willys Coupes and similar chunks of iron roamed the dragstrips of America in their prime – the majority of them long-since retired to museum duty or relegated to the corner of an old barn. But don’t tell that to Travis.

Loggains, from Fort Smith, Ark., has spent the better part of 20 years scratching parts together to complete his absolutely beautiful ’41 Willys Coupe that harkens back the good ‘l days of drag racing. One look at this ride and we were hooked.

A former dirt track racer, Loggains has been using Lunati cams in his engines for more than 25 years, and often transferred one camshaft between several engines before an engine failure took it out, prompting the purchase of another.

I’d love to win a voodoo#60122 for my 41 willys coupe that Ive been scratching to build for 20 yrs.Ive used lunati for 25 yrs in my dirt track days sometimes transferring the same cam in 5 or 6 motors before something else broke and took out the cam. i think the 60122 would be a good match for my 2800 stall and 4.10 gears. I recently underestimated my cam choice and have no top end charge. i think this would give me what i need to take out the friendly rivalry in my class at the dragstrip.and the money that it would save me would buy some glass. lol!

Rachel Blankmeyer

Rachel, a second-generation gearhead, grew up working on cars with her father and admits she’s been hooked on cars and engines ever since. She later met her husband, also an avid drag racer, who promised to buy her a muscle car for the couple’s tenth anniversary.

Nine years later – a year ahead of the promised date – the couple found a ’68 Firebird was that was in a condition “just about too bad to fix up.” But Blankmeyer, thinking like any true car guru with 93 octane in the veins, decided that any muscle car was worth reviving, regardless of its condition, and the project was on from there.

After some debate, Rachel and her husband decided that Lunati’s 60904 camshaft was just what the doctor ordered for their Pontiac mill to allow for some future upgrades and to give the car a little of that rough idle we all know and love.

Hello. I would like to enter your contest to win a cam. I grew up working on cars with my dad and have been hooked on cars and engines ever since. Then, I met my husband who was also into drag racing. So my husband promised to get me my muscle car for our tenth anniversary. We found my 68 firebird about a year earlier then our tenth anniversary. However, she was just about too bad to fix up. I decided then that any muscle car was worth fixing up! So we bought the firebird. Any little extra money I can get; I buy parts for her. We are working on tearing her completely down and fixing anything bad from the ground up. I told my husband that it was my car therefore the parts for her were my responsibility and that I was going to work on her alongside him, instead of him doing all the work. We have gotten back an old motor that my husband had in his car when he originally bought it. The engine is a Pontiac 400. I eventually want to have a street/strip car when we get her all done. Any little help that I can receive to help put her all back together would be greatly appreciated! I’m not sure which cam I would need. My husband and I haven’t figured that out yet. After some debate we have settled on PN 60904. I wanted something that could handle some upgrades to the motor to make it a little bit faster down the track and something with a rough idle.

Rachels’ Cam – PN 60904
