The race team of Tim Lynch and Steve Petty is without the doubt the most well-known and feared pairing in the Outlaw 10.5 ranks, as the pair have raced all over the world with a succession of record-setting vehicles over the years. From Lynch’s original Shredder Mustang to today’s Corvette, it doesn’t matter what the venue or competition – they let it all hang out every time down the 1320′.
The pair is in Qatar at the Qatar racing Club, owned by Sheik Khalid Al Bin Hamad Thani, currently racing in the Arabian Drag Racing League with Lynch driving and Petty tuning Q80 Motorsports’ Mustang – Dan Millen’s former ride. So far the team has posted a best during qualifying of 4.03 at 190 MPH in the car during the qualifying sessions for the first event. There, they were able to go all the way to the final round before losing to Todd Tutterow, driving the Al-Anabi screw-blown C6 Corvette. Reports have the team struggling to get the Pro Line power to the ground in the single-framerail Mustang.

Last week, Tutterow drove his mount to an unofficial record 3.99 in testing, and Dave Hance matched it this morning in a mid-week test with his new Mustang. As we all know, Lynch and Petty don’t race for second place, and earlier this week, they made the call to stuff Lynch’s record-destroying Outlaw 10.5 C6 Corvette into a plane bound for the small desert country in an effort to compete with the big boys of the sport on another continent. As Lynch’s ProLine Racing-powered Corvette has won nearly every event it has entered, the expectation is that they will continue to dominate on the incredible QRC racing surface. According to reports, the Sheik paid the tab on transport to get the menacing machine aboard the plane – a flight that is rumored to be in the $20K range. With Hance already knocking down a couple of 3-second passes today (or is it yesterday? We never got that whole time zone thing in school) it’s going to be a hell of a competition.
