Just over a month ago, Mark Woodruff was preparing for another competitive radial event at his home track of Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Illinois when, during pre-race testing, he broke a ring gear and pinion, locking up the rear end around mid-track and sending the familiar ZR1 Corvette hard into the concrete barrier. The incident kept Woodruff out of commission for the Street Car Super Nationals: Anarchy At The Arch, along with a few other radial and Outlaw 10.5 events through the month of September.

The culprit to Woodruff's mid-season thrash to make the major events remaining on the 2016 schedule.

The 2010 model Corvette was delivered to long-time chassis man, Rob Matheis at Matheis Race Cars after the HEMI-headed powerplant was lifted out for a freshen of its own. The damaged front end was cut off at the frame rails and immediately started being replaced by Matheis and another chassis shop in the area, Larry Jeffers Race Cars. With the skilled professionals hard at work, the Woodruff’s Corvette is nearing completion after less than a month of work, in hopes of making No Mercy 7, the largest payout for Radial vs. The World to date … and Woodruff hopes to put his hands on the prize.

Central Ohio Insurance was on board Woodruff’s car at the time of the incident and the ease of the insurance claims helped Mark make these quick repairs in time for SGMP. Precision Turbo and Engine stepped up to the plate along with M&M Transmission to make sure Woodruff’s Corvette had all the parts needed to make the necessary repairs and updates to be a frontrunner in the ever-competitive RvW category. With only a few days left before the gates swing open at South Georgia Motorsports Park, Woodruff and team are making a late push to get the ever-popular Corvette back in top form and ready to unleash.
