Heatshield Products Introduces Lava Turbo Plug

New from Heatshield Products – the Lava Turbo Plug. This plug will protect your turbo from unwanted wear by stopping freewheeling and protecting it from debris. See more details below.

Official Release:

Protect your turbocharger from unlubricated freewheeling and your intake system from dirt, debris and moisture with the Lava Turbo Plug from Heatshield Products.

When a turbocharger is allowed to spin without the engine running, the internal bearings can see excessive wear. This freewheeling can also damage the internals, because the turbo does not have pressurized oil lubricating the parts. A common scenario in which this can occur is a turbo-equipped racecar being towed on an open trailer; the flow of air causes the turbocharger(s) to spin.

Dirt, debris and moisture can build up inside the air-intake system in turbos left exposed to the elements during towing. This can cause serious engine damage if the air intake is not cleared before the engine is started. Many people stuff a rag into the turbo inlet, but this method is less than effective, and if the rag is left in place when the engine is fired, it can be sucked into the engine, causing serious damage.

The Lava Turbo Plug fits securely onto the turbocharger inlet on the compressor side, blocking this potentially damaging airflow. Even if you tow on an open trailer through a downpour, you won’t have to worry about water accumulating in the turbo or intake system. And if you accidentally start the engine with the Lava Turbo Plug™ still in place, it will not get sucked into the turbo.

Lava Turbo Plug is available in three different sizes that cover a majority of aftermarket turbocharger inlet sizes and depths.
