New Speed By Spectre ProFab Cold Air Intake for Early GM Cars

Speed By Spectre just released their dyno proven ProFab Cold Air Intake Systems. These systems are designed to bring cold air to your classic muscle car. This cold air intake is available for early model F-bodies, Chevelles, C10 pickups, Impalas and Novas.

Official Release:

Spectre’s Dyno-Proven ProFab Cold Air Intake Systems Bring Modern Cold Air Induction to Classic Muscle Cars

Ontario, Calif. (Jan. 2010) – The easiest way to add horsepower to a carbureted muscle car is to lower the temperature of air entering the engine. That’s easier said than done since standard air cleaners draw air from inside the engine bay. Those open-element air cleaners are costing you power!

In their continuing quest to develop the best induction systems in the industry for vintage muscle cars, Spectre’s newest breakthrough is the ProFab Cold Air intake system. By pulling air from outside the engine bay, Spectre saw an impressive gain of 20 horsepower and 23 lb-ft of torque peak on a standard 350 crate motor equipped test car. That equates to a 6.71% increase – all from swapping to a ProFab Cold Air intake!

The power “secret” is something car builders have known for years – funneling cold, dense air into the cylinders from outside the engine by improves power. While testing on two identical 2nd Gen Camaros showed ambient underhood temperatures hovering in the 180 degree range, the average temperature of the air entering the engine through the ProFab Cold Air intake was only 88 degrees. That 92 degree drop correlates to a much denser air mass and better combustion. Real world driving with constant fresh air induction would likely produce even better drops.

On top of those benefits, ProFab plenums are designed to be one of the lowest air intake systems on the market, making it perfect for hot rodders with tall deck engines and high rise manifolds that want to avoid swapping to a new hood for clearance – as low as 1.9″. The one-piece cast aluminum plenum is available in cast or polished finishes and can be configured with single or dual polished, mandrel bent 4-inch aluminum intake tubes that pull cold air from the fenderwells or the headlight buckets. Both use high-flow Spectre hpR® Air Filters and laser-cut aluminum heat shields.

The ProFab Cold Air intake system is currently available for 1967-’81 F-Bodies, 1964-’72 Chevelles, 1967-72 C10 pickups, 1965-70 Chevy Impala/Bel-Air/Caprice and 1966-’74 Novas, with more applications coming soon.

• Gained 20 horsepower and 23 lb-ft of torque on standard 350 crate motor
• Designed to be the lowest air intake systems
